The end may be a mercy: First 1WC Update
There was a lot of movement in the 1WC in the last 24 hours and I thought that I would not wait until after the weekend to give you an update. That way some of you can begin to wear your new or favorite watches over the weekend.
It just takes a few days for some folks to feel the pressure and tap out. We started with 52 brave souls who wanted to recapture a time where they wore a watch and did not agonize over which little bauble was just right for the occasion. Some did not make it very far. Oddly, and this happened last year, some joined the group late, like an extra tourist on a tour and thought they were in. They were not.
The rules have tripped up a few of you. If it was just wearing the same watch everyday 15 or 20 of you would happily do that until the end of time. There is no competition in that. The rules are designed to generate failure and interest.
Despite @Ichibunz 's warning, some of you failed to heed my last 1WC post. Some of you attempted compliance but failed. You have spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on your collection. You are the real winners because you get to enjoy it again. If you don't know, I am a lawyer by training. I try to draft these rules so that there is very little wiggle room. You either do or you don't. If you can point to a real ambiguity, you will get the benefit of the doubt (adhesion anyone?). Some of you realized that you could fix a mistake by editing. That means that I had to go through a whole day's WRUW twice. I caught mistakes that I had made. If you believe that I made a mistake on your candidacy to receive WC swag, put it in the comments below. Or just slink away, either works.

Deadline is before the next weekly challenge post goes up, which is a random time on Sunday... So probably best to get it in on Saturday.

To indicate that I meant on that WRUW post I demonstrated. Your Thursday WRUW post had the #1wc hashtag and just one other. Everyone on the list above managed to comply. Some had to go back and fix their WRUW post when they realized their mistake (yes, @Fieldwalker , these things are noticed). When I checked it this morning after the Friday WRUW thread began you were still not in compliance.

For what it's worth, I don't think it's a dumb question and actually it still isn't quite clear to me where the line is drawn.
For example, if I was wearing a dive watch I might consider Davy Jones. I believe Pirates of the Caribbean is a "proper" Disney franchise and he surely counts as a villain so you'd think that would be fine but the concept of Davy Jones wasn't exactly invented by Disney as it's much older. And he isn't the only such character.
If the rules aren't all that precise, then a simple "solution" is to remain on the safe side and stay away from gray areas by not engaging in risky behaviour. In other words, stick with the low risk characters 😉
