I have no idea other than being similar to the current Explorer II but I'd say it's because from a practical point of view is a very bright popping contrasting color. The red would be a tad to dark (but I prefer red) and yellow a bit too light (I'd love a BB Pro Polar with red GMT hand).
Here the Explorer and the Traska are the most comfortable ones. The Ranger would come third but that's at the same time, the most legible of ll and the one that most fits the specs to be a true adventure watch by design. But then again, the Summiteer would come the second considering the price as an important factor.

In short, the new Explorer is more of a luxurious homage to the true exploring watches of the past while the Ranger is a true adventure watch by design made specially robust to handle almost anything you throw at it.
