I'm just going to quote myself from a #watchesinthewild when I borrowed this from @valleykilmers the first time around.

I've talked about this watch at length before but having it on wrist for two weeks has been eye opening.  I've never been the sort of person to pass this off as a GMT MAster II knock off but even now as I search for Rolex Batman on Google, this pops up in the Shopping tab as an alternative.

And yet, this feels all together different to me on wrist.

The GMT Master II, to me, is modern Rolex maximalism.  Everything is dialed up to 11, from the Super case to the deeply engraved ceramic bezel, to the cold blue lume.  It is a very good watch, no doubt, but it is a fundamentally modern one.

The Strat-o-Timer is vintage to the core with the cushion case, sloped green lume markers and the faded indigo and black bezel.  In many respects, I get a beautiful blend of vintage Seiko, Zodiac, and Longines from the dial and case combination with all of the creature comforts of modern watch making (on the fly adjustments, excellent winding feel, great on wrist balance, and no band stretch).  This is a great watch, maybe the best microbrand watch release of the past five years and blows away watches that are 3x the entry price (looking at you Seiko).

TLDR, this watch is sick and definitely don't just take my word for it.

Why am I giving it away?

Technically, I'm not. @valleykilmers is.

But if you need any proof of how much I love this watch.

I'm in too baby.

So what do you need to do?

Make a $25+ donation to the charity of your choice between the day that this raffle starts and the day it ends (anonymized receipt posted in the chat) to enter for one chance to win.

Bonus points if you make a pitch as to why your charity RAWKS and I might throw in an additional donation to the winner.

Once we get all the names, I'll toss everyone into a random number generator and pop out the winner.

FAQ

What do you get? The watch comes with original packaging, box, papers, warranty card, manual, rubber strap, and a beautiful lilac strap from Delugs.... along with the warm and fuzzy feeling that you’ve made a difference in the world Also, depending on your jurisdiction, a charitable tax break.

Is this audited? Nah. You're just gonna have to take my word for that I run a fair lottery. Given that I don't stand to make any money on it, I think I'm pretty reliable.

Any charity? For US folks, call it any 501(c)(3) organization. For any non US organization, it will be the sole call of the operator of this charitable lottery (me).

And you'll ship anywhere? Anywhere I can, on me. North Korea, Iran, Russia are probably a no go. You know who you are.

Donations due by 12PM Pacific Time April 23rd, 2024. Raffle will be run at that time.

Donated to the SIMS Foundation. SIMS provides mental health and substance abuse recovery resources for musicians in the greater Austin (TX) area. Austin calls itself the live music capital of the world, and for good reason as there are thousands of working musicians that call this town home. I first learned about SIMS during the lockdown when I played a virtual charity show benefitting their work.

This charitable donation is for Luca a Better Life. My friend Mirko Gosgnach from Italy requesting some help. Mirko and his wife Catalina Catana is now officially parenting Catalina's sister's son Luca an autistic 8 year old boy. Her sister was brutally murdered by her ex-husband January 2024 - stabbed multiple times to death in cold blood and left Luca as an orphan - Lucas is low functioning autism which requires a lot of care and attention. I was fortunate and humbled to donate $100 CDN to help and support a better life for Luca. Attached are the screenshots of the successful donation and receipt.

Thank you for organizing yet again, JC!

My donation is going to World Central Kitchen. Whatever your personal or political views on the situation, it is a tragedy when volunteer aid workers lose their lives while helping others. Hopefully this organization can continue to carry out their mission with the help of volunteers and donors everywhere.

My donation is in honor of my mother in law. She was diagnosed with cancer about a year and a half ago, underwent chemo therapy.. was looking good until about a month ago. A scan came back showing that her cancer had come back and spread to her lungs. She’s an amazing woman, without her I wouldn’t have the wonderful wife and children I am so lucky to call my own. I love you Liz! I love you WatchCrunch family! I hope we give more than we receive ! 🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾🤟🏾
