I’d like to give this a go, however I only have 10 watches. Is the 12 watch rule a guideline or are there exceptions that can be made?

I get rules, as Red Foreman so eloquently put it: “Son, without rules we’d still be in trees throwing our crap at each other.”

Isn’t it reasonable though to assume that 99 percent of the population has <10 watches? I mean it’s double digits.

Great post, like you I’m getting up there in age - I just hit 55. A close friend of mine that I went to HS with just died from a brain tumor, he was 54. It hit me like a locomotive, all the stupid shit I worry about on the daily - my job, my boss, stupid co workers, when can I retire, etc.

I’ve had a seismic shift since his death, I’ve stopped worrying about the future, my boss, my job and I’m enjoying the moment. I can’t retire if I’m dead. Watches have always been a guilty pleasure for me. They bring me joy, so why should I feel guilty about that? It’s so stupid.

Love the Pink Floyd reference- my buddy was a big Pink Floyd fan, we used to get so high and listen to The Wall on cassette back in the day. He was a great dude - I’ll miss him.

Two of my favorite books are located in the city’s you’ve lived in. Pat Conroy one of may favorite authors, The Lords of Discipline, loosely based on The Citadel, which is where I believe he went to college.

And a Confederacy of Dunces, in New Orleans. I believe the main character was Ignatius Reilly. One of the best characters ever, aside from Holden Caufield in my opinion.

I got this one a couple days ago, I thought it would be good for summer. Single pass nato, @crownandbuckle. Loving it so far.

Exactly the same, once I became an empty nester my watch purchases went way up. Lots of disposable income now that I’m not paying for year round sports. I got lucky both kids got scholarships too - it’s like I won the lottery.
