Who Is Your Daddy and What Does He Do

@whitesalmon tagged me next in this stupid/awesome game of "Who Is Your Daddy and What Does He Do" (in Arnold voice)

Props to @Eris_Goddess_of_Discord for the original idea and post:

But it's only a couple of weeks till Christmas so tis the time for games, and I promise this one is very friendly and low on commitment! No dressing up or food products required.

While half of you go look for the 'Mute' function let me explain the game to the rest of you.

This one is called 'Lie to me'.

I basically tell you three facts about me. Two are true, one is a lie. First person to spot the lie then gives 2 truths and 1 lie about themselves and the rest of us have a go at spotting the lie again and we just keep going until we get bored or decide we know more about each other than we are comfortable with. Can be watch related or not.

EDIT: Actually, instead of the first person to get it right being the next to go I think whoever set the three facts gets to choose the next to go out of all those who gave correct answers. E.g. I get to choose who goes next from those who spot my lie.

1) In junior high, grade 7-8 for our UK friends, I was in an a cappella group with 2 other guys. We were pretty good and traveled a bit on the weekends all over the state. From Navy parties, to bat mitzvahs, to fancy galas. $500 a night splint between 3 poor teenagers was a hell of a wad of money.

Dorky? Yup. Embarrassing to have your mom pick you up? Of course. Great way to get free champagne and see how the other half lives for a night? You bet. Although, I still get shit from my wife when I can't do something... like reach the top shelf without a ladder, carry the Christmas tree box out of the attic with just one had. It's always followed with "oh, is it because you were in a boy band?"

Biggest Boy Bands of All Time

2) My original university major was engineering. The first year went by without a hitch but sophomore year stared the hard stuff. The 1st day of the 1st semester my class was Differential Equations. It's basically like imaginary math on imaginary numbers... I don't know. "Nope."

It was so over my head and so stupid and it made me so mad that I walked out mid-class, withdrew from all my other classes, and just quit all together. I took a semester off to work and started anew at a completely different school with a completely different major the following spring.

3) While in university a few of my buddies and I decided to take a road trip from our school to El Paso where I had some family. My aunt let us take her Jeep Wrangler to White Sands National Park one evening and we ended up with a flat tire. We had no gear or flash lights and were about 20 min drive from the main road.

As it's getting dark and we don't have cell service, a blacked out Mustang approached us. 3 guys get out and start asking a bunch of questions about what we're doing and a lot of words like "crew" and "turf" and we stared to get truly scared. After a lot of convincing them that we were idiot college kids they offered to help us with headlights from the car and the bigger dudes helped us with the tire in complete silence.

When we were done the leader asked us if we wanted to shoot his handgun at the dunes "for kicks". My idiot buddy was so relived he wasn't going to shoot us that he quickly grabbed it and accidentally shot a hole in the bottom of the Jeep fender. All of the "Mustang" guys lauded hysterically and told us to just follow them back.

After they flagged us to stop at the first gas station on the way back I got out to thank them. The driver handed me a huge rubber banded stack of $100 bills and says "you fools are crazy but I respect that you weren't afraid of us. Get your toy car fixed." He tells me we never met and drove off. After telling the story to family and doing some research, it turned out he was the #2 guy in the Sinaloa cartel around that area.

I'm going to say #3 is the lie. Only because the description sounds more like the number 4 guy, though it is possible he moved up...

·

You have a vivid imagination.

·

You tell a tall tale, And I've made my Choice!....but I'm on the side.

·

#3

·

I'm going to say #2 because it's innocently believeable

·

I’m going to go with #3 as true, because I want it to be

·

#1 is the lie. You used too many pics

·

Oh dang.  Those are vivid😗, solid writing even if all are made up.

All seem very lie-worthy, but as 3 is the most overly detailed - I'll vote for that one.

Maybe was a similar incident that inspired that story?  Like... you were driving a rusty honda civic and flatted on the interstate, and some scary looking girls who do roller derby stopped and fixed the tire for you? 😜

As a previous quizmaster in this game, I'm not in this for the glory but just for testing my rather weak lie detection skills.

·

Oh, please, please let #3 be true!

·

all three entries seem credible and not enough details in each entry to serve as red flags :(

#1 - true; why not; seem possible you could be in an teen sing group.  The insult from your wife rings true and how you spelled "acapella" the correct way - which I think is a tell.

#2 - true; i know a little about differential math and it is HARD - I barely passed that.  the familiarity with the mathematical equations and the effort to incorporate them supports your store

#3 - False; I don't know crap about the Sinaloa Cartel, but I don't think the #2 does anything other than point out which person needs to be killed.  Don't think cartel guys hang out with young boys and let them handle their guns.  Tried a little too hard to be convincing

·

less is more! more is less!

Number 3 is the Lie or you were Lied to.

·

I can't believe how cool everyone is on here!

This is really tricky to guess but I love how this game has more moved up to next level storytelling overnight. 🥳

I have work for the next few hours and then I'll come make my guess 😁

·

All lies! Except no.1 😅 Our very own boy-band star!!

·

the profile picture are your boyband, so that one is definitely not a lie. It also seems like all off you are skeliton doctors.
sins you are a skelitondoctorleedvocalboybandboy that meens #2 is also true, but I would have liked to hear more details off your grand exit

number 3 is so good, but also a lie. I will give my reasons in a littel poam or a wizard spell or somthing.

The story is true

The details are just skewed

because if it did’t happed to you

It happed to someone you knew

·

2 is true I know a few engineers and differential equations gets all of them.

1 is the lie…. We all know any acappella group worth its weight in salt is at minimum a barbershop quartet

·
DeeperBlue

Number 3 is the lie.

It is YOU who was the number 2 in the cartel. So this story is actually about that one time you spared some uni kids lives. You've left that life behind now though, after a nasty family feud. That's why you're currently in hiding with your only interaction with the outside world being through a watch forum.

If this is the reason, that meens the second in command off the most brutal cartel in the world was in a boyband in his teenage years 😂

·
NorwegianWatchGuy

If this is the reason, that meens the second in command off the most brutal cartel in the world was in a boyband in his teenage years 😂

You want it to be true so bad, right? 🤣

·
DeeperBlue

You want it to be true so bad, right? 🤣

Ofc 😂

·
NorwegianWatchGuy

Ofc 😂

Do you think his MO would be to sing to his enemies before dispatching them? Mums would tell their children stories of the "Cantante de la muerte" the death singer.... His beautiful song is the last thing you will hear....

·
Mr.Dee.Bater

Oh, please, please let #3 be true!

Fare a guess?

·
valleykilmers

Give me your guess for the lie of the 3

The lie is 2 because it is deceptively banal!

·
valleykilmers

Fare a guess?

No, man!  I want them all to be true!

·
valleykilmers

Fare a guess?

@HotWatchChick69 wont guess because he's scared of winning.

I'm scared of him winning too.

I think it would get real extreme, real quick.

The results have been tallied... and @street.credor and @lmchew with the only correct guesses that #2 is FALSE. @street.credor was the first to guess correctly and wins.

  1. True  I was in a male a cappella group and the earning helped me save for my 1st car and buy my 1st watch, a Seiko 5.
  2. FALSE  I failed the DE class and quit engineering after that failed semester. I should've walked out right away but I don't have balls that big. @street.credor said this was too "innocently believable" and he isn't wrong.
  3. True  @Shbamn50 said Sinaloa isn't near El Paso and I can't speak to the accuracy of his statement, but there is a lot of waring tribes here as it's an essential pipeline for coke, meth, and marijuana from Mexico and further south. @HotWatchChick69 wanted this to be true and it is 100% true, though I'm not nor have I ever flipped bricks of coke or transported for a cartel, despite what the internet says. In total, he gave us around $2500 cash to fix the car and we never asked questions. He also gave me his cologne bottle from the car because when asked if I liked it I said "yes"... duh. He had a gun in his jeans. I held onto the bottle for maybe 5 years after because it was such a crazy story and we're luck we weren't killed. We postulated for a long time why they "helped" us and we don't know. Maybe killing 3 college kids, 2 of which were white, might've gotten raised too many questions and prying eyes from the feds. Maybe they were just looking to ruffle our feathers. Maybe he legitimately felt bad for us, thought I doubt this too. Who knows, but we survived to tell the story.

A) not getting shot by virtue of seeming weak and harmless

Vs.

B) badass classroom walkout over annoying math

A) is perhaps ‘less cool’ but I’m very glad you survived what could’ve been a missing persons case.  It’s terrible to say but you are maybe right.  looking like you’d be a big deal if dead (unlike some old farm worker) maybe changed the calculus.  Stay safe my American friends

·

I love that your wife gives you shit about being in a boy band. LOL

Yeah in that case it’s better we looked poor and weak and helpless rather than threatening. As James Brown said, “Cocaine is a hell of a drug“
