RANGER VS. AQUATERRA

Planning on getting a new watch hopefully in the next few weeks. I’m at a crossroads at the moment. I’m looking to get a GADA and these are the 2 options I have. Both stand at 39mm with in house movements. The Tudor has the Tfit clasp with micro adjustments while the Aquaterra has the seamless bracelet. Both are very attractive watches and I’ve found them at an attractive price point. I have yet to try on the Aquaterra but did handle the Ranger and liked it very much. What would be best for a GADA watch between these two? Let me know.

For me the AT wins, since it has a date.

·

Both are great watches, but the AT could also be worn with a suite, the ranger is more the GADA and if you don't need a date it's no problem ,you definitely need to try both on

·

Can definitely advocate for the Ranger (which is my daily wear) but the AT is a fine choice too. On a daily basis, the TFit is so useful.

·

The Aquaterra is more versatile plus it has a date window which needs to be there on a GADA watch. Also feels slightly premium with the finishing. Straps are always there to suit the needs.

The Tudor's advantage is the T-fit clasp and the overall value. Personally not a fan of the dial and the hands, and missing a date complication.

The aqua terra

·

Aqua Terra for sure a far superior watch for sure and more classy 👍

·

Again Aqua Terra all the way IMHO.

·

Aqua Terra. Omega & AT Fanboy. I have the larger AT (41mm). 8900 vs 8800 movement in the 39mm. 8800 (39mm) has quick set date vs. quick set hour hand.

I'm actually considering a Ranger in the future, but not to replace the AT.

·

For me, a true GADA watch ought to have a date complication. There are exceptions though, but I reckon it’s important (OP perhaps is one of them).

·

Aqua Terra every single time.

·

I would try them both on at the same time with clothes you normally wear. I bet you'll know immediately which one is your favourite!

·

The Ranger. As it's gonna be a GADA the T-Fit will be important. Either watch can be dressed up or down , there is zero issue wearing a field watch with a suit etc..

The price difference is large , Omega in recent years have pushed prices North a lot. I would say you can wear the Ranger a little more care free.

Both watches would be a great choice.

·

The AT for me, although I am a great fan of three handers. But the overall class and look of this Omega is just 🔥

·

I own a Seamaster and a Ranger, albeit different models to these.

If I had to choose, I'd go Omega, easily.

·

I would choose the Aqua Terra unless it costs three times the Ranger.

·

Do you dress up more or do you generally wear more sporty/casual attire? No question the two watches, while both being GADA's, are quite different in that regard. If you would like an alternative GADA that is on the dressy side like the Omega but is more in line with the Ranger price/value wise, consider the SBGX261 by Grand Seiko (or their similar models).

·

AT AT AT AT AT 🙏 But you choose the one that pulls you to it the most👍

But the Ranger… that dial 🤢

Good luck 🤝

·

I vote Ranger. Love both brands, have both brands but the vintage feel of the Ranger works for me. I may end up with one of those myself.

·

for me it's clearly the AT, since it's a timeless design. it's been released in 2002 and has been constantly a viable choice and in watch enthusiasts minds.

the ranger strikes me as "the newest coolest shit tudor has released", and i question if that hype will translate to long lasting popularity. or if it's just one of many things that were released in the past. like the old tudor ranger was. nobody cared for it ...

if it was AT vs Tudor BB58, it would be a level playing field.

Put it this way.

The Aqua Terra is the OG. There are so many variations and colours out there that you will find a watch that you like and can take home.

The Ranger is the watch you buy because there are no Explorers to be had for love or money.

Also, the finishing of the hands on the Aqua Terra put almost anything short of Grand Seiko to shame.

·

I would go with the Aqua Terra for sure. First, I think it is a much higher quality watch then the Ranger. Second, I believe it is more versatile -- can be dressed up or a great everyday type of watch. While more expensive, you get what you pay for. Omega gets my vote.

·

AT for me, unless you need good lumen, AT sucks in that aspect!

·

Ok, you have two great watches in the running. The Aqua Terra is my choice : Coaxial Movement, Date function, Omega makes some cool strap options even before you get to aftermarket straps, the stainless steel indices and broad arrow hand all make it my 1st choice. The Aqua Terra can dress up or dress down. Its not a flex flasher but it is super well built with beautiful fit and finish. IMO Omega's Coaxial Movement and Grand Seiko's Spring Drive are the best mass produced/manufactured movements today. Having said this, kudos to Tudor for using a new in-house Caliber!!!! I'd buy the Omega and put the Tudor on my short list for my next watch...just keep this sickness churning!

·

Both beautiful watches but the Ranger all day

·

Aqua terra in this pick

·

I'd go with the AquaTerra, but I might be biased, as I own one and love it. But I do think it needs some sort of micro-adjustment mechanism for the bracelet.

I’m a Tudor fan but that AT hits just right (pre-boat deck dial). Curious to get your thoughts on the AT after you try it on

The Ranger is great, don't get me wrong. But the AT is a whole order above it in terms of elegance. The AT is a BEAUTIFUL watch, and far more stylish and sophisticated.

·

AT by a mile. Something about the Ranger just doesn’t grab me. Seems like it has too much empty space.
