It's not a Lie... If you believe it

https://www.watchcrunch.com/Eris_Goddess_of_Discord/posts/who-wants-to-play-a-game-21369

from @Eris_Goddess_of_Discord :

But it's only a couple of weeks till Christmas so tis the time for games, and I promise this one is very friendly and low on commitment! No dressing up or food products required.

While half of you go look for the 'Mute' function let me explain the game to the rest of you.

This one is called 'Lie to me'.

I basically tell you three facts about me. Two are true, one is a lie. First person to spot the lie then gives 2 truths and 1 lie about themselves and the rest of us have a go at spotting the lie again and we just keep going until we get bored or decide we know more about each other than we are comfortable with. Can be watch related or not.

EDIT: Actually, instead of the first person to get it right being the next to go I think whoever set the three facts gets to choose the next to go out of all those who gave correct answers. E.g. I get to choose who goes next from those who spot my lie.

1). My first job was working at Nike when I was 13. So exciting to get a real paycheck. I Can't remember what I spent the money on.

2). When I was 25, Phil Knight and I were hanging out together. Just the two us at a concert. I started to moonwalk for some reason. When Phil saw I could Moonwalk he asked me to teach him.

3). When I retired from Nike I received a custom pair of Golden Air Jordans that have laces with real gold tips. Oh and of course shoes for life.

Number 2 is clearly a waking dream.

·

#1 Child labor for Nike checks out, so believable.

#3 Nike has always been about self-promotion, so this checks out.

#2 Phil has never been that cool. Lie

·

Wow!  All Nike related!  But, this one...

Too Easy GIFs | Tenor
  • #1 is the lie!  Obvi!  You were sold off as child slave laborer at age 7.  THAT is when you started working for Nike
  • #2 is true.  Once you demonstrated that you could put together shoes faster than even the T-1000's that Nike deployed throughout their factories (sort of like that legend of John Henry beating the steam drill, but this one ain't fiction), Phil Knight came to see the "Golden Child" at work himself, and was so impressed that he immediately adopted you on the spot

  • #3 is true.  Golden Air Jordans were 1/1 custom made for the Golden Child!
·

As unbelievable as it seems, it has to be Number 1….the other two would follow on from each other quite nicely (also I want to see a video of you moonwalking and the golden sneakers….). If you taught PK to moonwalk, the absolute LEAST he could do is give you the golden sneakers anyway….

·

Contrary to my gut, I'm gonna say 3 is the lie. Again, all somewhat believable and crazy at the same time.

·

I say 1 is the lie.

·

Yeah I'll say number 1 as well, I think you were a different age

·

2 is the lie.

There was no space for moonwalking in the mosh pit.

You crowd surfed together, did shots and ended up having breakfast in a car hot tub.

The shoes for life IS a life goal for some of us.  11 1/2 dunk low btw

·

#3 is a lie. The gold is PVD coated.

People, like your math teacher. I want to see the work! Let's see a little deductive reasoning

just had a great 2 day popup event here.

Nike SB and eBay teamed up for a two-day eBay x Nike SB "Skate 'Em Out Store," located at the Bodecker Foundation on Northwest Quimby Street, to honor sneaker legend and founder of Nike SB, Sandy Bodecker.

You could get any pair of the Low Dunks from the library collection. 1 per person 65.00 bucks

Some people waited in line 3 days in the cold to get a chance at a pair

this was my favorite of the bunch

This was the Lucky guy from Houston, TX AKA "The Pink Panther" that got a pair! waited two days...48hrs outside to get a pair!

AKA, Todd is wrong, so add that to your database of clues

3. Is a lie c’mon shoes for life!!?? Really !! And if it’s true!! Are we the same size ? 😉

·

#3 is the lie. With lifetime off nike shoes you would have started a shoecrunch by now

·

  1.  True.  Work for Nike at 13 - possible; maybe you are passing out pamphlets or delivering flyers.
  2. True - moonwalk?  It was all the craze-back in the day.
  3. Lie - Custom Golden Air Jordans?  don't think so- big company like Nike - probably has a standardized retirement gift AND they won't let you just pick the shoe you want - too much change for abuse.  Shoes for life?  maybe employee discount for life ?

thank you for playing

sometimes you get what your given

·

I'm a master practitioner of the ancient art of Bullshinto!. Every answer I give could be adding or pealing away layers of the onion that is my Truth or Lie

I'm stepping out for a couple hours... were 16 guesses so far

·

@Nuclear1711 You need to make a guess here before possibly moving on

@Nuclear1711 You need to make a guess here before possibly moving on

Well CLEARLY #2 is the lie... I think.

Anyone who survived child labor at 13 at Nike would have the gumption, the pure tenacity, the absolute unwavering spirit to stick around long enough to earn a pair of golden sneakers.

And also cause moonwalking is hard, and I refuse to believe that if I can't do it noone can.

·

Okay...now I really have to step out for a bit. Keep guessing, I'll be back shortly to settle the dust

We have a Winner!

1) TRUE It was the spring of 1979, my Mom and I moved to Portland from our ranch/farm in the Willamette valley. (Parent shit) The Willamette Valley is 5400 square miles of agriculture. And In the Valley you can start working when you’re 12 with parents permission. So I had been hauling irrigation pipe, picking berries anything to make extra cash.

Long story short, When we move back to Portland. I was hanging out with a bunch of friends and they were all talking about this warehouse in NW Portland where they were throwing shoes away in a big dumpster. So we all rode our bikes down there. And all that was there, Was a bunch of empty shoes boxes littering the loading dock.

So we left, but I decided I would go back on Monday and see if they need someone to clean up all boxes. The Company was Blue Ribbon Sports which was transitioning into the company Nike

Well I think the fact a kid wanted to work impressed Them. As they hired me on the spot to keep the new warehouse swept and clean. I was ecstatic! On my 3rd day I was in the warehouse when I got called into the offices.

It took 3 days for the paperwork to make it to payroll and they realized I was 13. Sadly they had to let me go but asked that I come back when I turned 15.

2) TRUE Ironically moving forward to when I was 25 I was working in the music industry as a  production manager. One of the bands I worked for became Nike’s go to corporate party band.

One such event was in Scottsdale Arizona. The band was about to take a break and they had laid out a massive selection of shoes for the band to choose from (NOT all size 9’s)

I was by myself trying on different pairs to find my keepers. I was so stoked at the 2 pairs I had collected that I did a little moonwalk in my socks.  I looked up and there was standing Phil Knight Laughing. He asked what the trick to it was. I said it’s all in the socks.

3) LIE I never did go back to work at Nike, I've run into my old boss from back in the day on the Nike campus and we both get a kick out of it. My kids were all shoe testers so I spent lot of time in the design department and made a lot of friends. If you live in Portland there is 1 degree of separation from knowing someone who works there. So while I don’t have Golden Air Jordens I can’t remember the last time I paid for a pair. favorite pair so far are the Kyrie Sponge Bob's

This is fascinating - proof that you live long enough - you can cobble together a few things that are interesting to the masses.  Our lives may seem mundane to us, but to others they are bold moves and crazy adventures :)
