Question for those who have big wrists

Do you guys tend to buy bigger watches? Do you wish they made bigger watches? How satisfied are you with the current watch size selections?

What are you considering bigger wrists? I'm 7.5" ish. I use to wear 42-44mm watches. Now I prefer 36-39mm.

·

I have a 7.5" wrist and I wear everything from 39mm to 45mm

·

7.5" wrist and I seldom wear anything over 36mm. Comfort is everything or you just can't stand it and it ends up a watch box queen.

·

I have a 7.75in wrist and I'm slowly working down in size. My sweet spot seems to be 39mm-40mm.

·

Mine is 20cm/7.9", the biggest watch I have is 37mm. I like smaller ones.

·

Big wrists means more options available to me.

I feel that not only can I rock smaller watches, I can also comfortably rock the bigger ones too. Smaller wrists tend to be limited to the smaller watches.

·

I have a 20cm wrist my favorite size is 39mm but the range I wear is 38mm to 44mm

·

I have an 8"+ wrist and am comfortable wearing watches from 34mm to 41mm. Happiest around 36mm to 38mm

·

7 1/4 wrist. I wear 38-42. Most in the 40-42 range. 36 looks to small to me in my wrist

·

As you probably can tell just by looking at @CliveBarker1967 and my responses, it's much more about your personal preference than some math problem to figure out. His wrist is huge and he likes 36-38. Mine is much smaller and I like 40-42. Neither of us are wrong, just preference is all.

·

I have 7.75"(19.7cm)wrist and I prefer 40-44mm depending on the lug length of course. I have a few 39mm that I really like but smaller than that and I feel like it looks to small on my wrist.

·

My wrist is 20cm / 7.75in but I prefer smaller watches and don't really wear anything over 42mm.

My ideal specs would be ~ 38mm - 40mm with a long lug to lug (~ 49mm - 51mm).

I do wear some 35mm and 36mm vintage pieces and prefer my 3 handers that don't have a rotating / tool bezel to be 40mm or under but really I judge every watch on its merits. It's rare that I buy a watch I haven’t been hands on with.

·

My wrist size is 7.65". I wear anything up to 46mm down to 36mm. There is definitely a shift to smaller watches. I would love to see a Brew in 42mm. I get you!

·

My wrists are around 8.75”, my big issue isn’t case sizes, it’s definitely straps not being long enough.

·

7.25 but I'll wear from a 41 to 50 whatever lol

·

8.25" my sweetspot favorite watches are 40-43mm but I have several smaller that I really like.

·

I have a 7.5 in / 19 cm wrist. I prefer 40+ mm watches but I’m learning lug to lug matters just as much. I find a 39 mm diameter watch with a 49 lug to lug is better than a 41 mm with shorter lugs.

·

I'm somewhere between 7.5-7.75 and I wear things from 34-44mm. My next purchase is going to be a 36mm explorer

·

Love small watches

·

40mm it's my favorite size, but as we know some watches wear different regardless the size.

·

8,5” wrist and I wear watches from 36mm to 44mm. I have come to the conclusion that my favourite size is between 38-39mm

·

Yes but no. Confusing? I mean, I have a 20cm wrist (7.87") and I really don't go below 40mm watches. So not every purchase is some obnoxious wrist canon by a long shot*, but I am still very consciously buying 'larger' watchers than some. So again... yes but no.

Proportionally, both to my wrist and my overall body, they just fill the space better.

(*With a choice between 43mm and 45mm Lunar Pilots, for example, I went 43mm.)

·

I have a 7.5 inch wrist and I generally purchase watches in the 39mm to 45mm range.

Really also depends on lug-to-lug. Some 35/36mm can wear larger if they use a 20mm lug width and have a longer set of lugs. Also, a 36mm with no bezel can wear like a 39mm with a large bezel.

34mm and under are pretty tough to wear although I have quite a few.

Anything over 50mm is a bit silly but I do have a couple.

·

I wear 36 to 45. The Seiko below is 45ish but has some magic going on since it fits and feels perfect

Also, I’m a sneaky troll who doesn’t belong in this thread with my birdlike 15cm wrists. 😛

Jelly of you big wrist folks, many watches I like are unwearable as once lugs overhang it looks and feels all wrong. 😑

This 40mm Breguet is an example of unwearable too big bad sizing. Also fascinating how bezel less design makes it look way bigger

I have an 8.25 in wrist, I only wear 39mm and above. The big issue is the straps that tend to be too small.

·

I never actually knew what my wrist size measured but after my admittedly unhappy experiment with collecting and insisting also wearing vintage watches back in the 80s was thrilled when watches grew larger and larger. I was younger, much heavier than I am now so I have always preferred bigger watches. Even now my wrists are about 8inches, I own watches as small as 38mm a few older Breitling timepieces that are not blingy but certainly noticeable at 48mm. None of us can exist in fashion vacuums so I am hip to the trend with watches moving south for men but manufacturers must also consider proper proportions: I am keen to purchase a 75th anniversary Omega Planet Ocean watch that brand designers have launched in a 40mm size perhaps in response to suggestions the POs are oversized. I was able to catch up with one recently that is promised to another collector, the watch was odd looking despite the gorgeous blue dial. The boutique owner admitted the watch disappointed him also upon closer examination: fitted with the regular PO steel bracelet the 40mm watch comes off looking small and thick which is ok as long as the buyer never cared for the original P0 models. I am saved from another 10k cad diver purchase by a trend that will also pass.

·

I got 8"+/21cm wrists and anything goes, 30mm to 50mm

all depends on the style of watch & how it fits, its if you like it that counts.

·

I got 8 inch wrist, earlier my preferred size was around 42-44mm but now after trying a bunch of watches I prefer somewhere around 36-40mm

·

If you want big watches there are plenty of options. I don't have a big wrist at 7.25 and usually like watches between 36-40mm depending on the style but I do have a couple of watches at 46mm but that is about my limit.
