I have avoided Rolex since I sold off a few back in the 80s. I personally feel the watches are terrific but exactly 3 individuals that I have had very egregious interactions with in the past wear Rolex watches. A little infantile but there so many other watch brands available, allows me to be stupid about the situation.
The clasp on my Seamaster 300 Heritage failed but was repaired on warranty at the Swatch centre conveniently located only a 30 minute walk from my hovel. I decided to purchase the OEM mesh bracelet for my watch leaving the bracelet to be lightly buffed. I actually prefer my watch on the mesh better. I also own a Breitling Transocean Worldtime that arrived fitted to the OEM mesh bracelet which is very comfortable, well made.
My young family and I were walking back from a community centre where our daughters swam for a local swim team, passed by a familiar watch and jewelry boutique, my wife knew that business was slow, I had sold off most of my watches for some essentials but I had a few new projects that were promising, the Baume and Mercier chrono was being sold off at 50% off list, she put down her credit card informing me that both daughters were helping pay as well. That was more than 20 fantastic years last October because life did get better. I wore that talisman watch daily until I was supervising a construction, not careful fell off a partial wall, watch needed to shipped to Switzerland for repairs but returned as good as new.
A few other watches are also connected to family events but this might be my most sentimental token.
