I think the recent strives towards 'legitimacy' by the brands you mention is primarily driven by the growth in the luxury watch market and the constant search for 'new revenue streams'.

It's a good thing if you ask me.

25 years for classic cars, so I guess so.

I call my '95 DJR chrono vintage but always feel a little weird doing so.

commented on Brand you'd never buy?

Watch brands always have the ability to surprise and to evolve. There's many brands I don't gravitate towards but none that I'd swear off completely.

I'd never buy or wear a watch that was produced in collaboration with a snake oil salesman like TGV though. His 'pay to play' style of content is completely devoid of substance and his willingness to use whatever influence he still has to hype any product to his (usually unseasoned) fans borders on the sociopathic imho.

Yeah - the funding that comes from being under Citizen's umbrella seems to have been put to good use - it's rare to consider any watch that trades as an established brand as a bit of a bargain in todays market, but this is a bargain.

commented on Your Thoughts on These Cool Calatrava Models?

I like how PP seem to have made a concerted effort to modernise the design language over preceding few years. It's always good to see a successful brand not resting on its laurels.

The new 5236P In-Line Perpetual Calandar is another example, and it's insanely good looking!

I've no previous experience with the brand, this watch wasn't even on my radar until I tried it on - and I've only come to dig it more since I bought it. You could do a lot worse.
