Do you let your wrist dictate your watch size?

To start, I am aware for most people this G shock is like a small Television on my wrist!

However I simply adore it, it was a gift from a family member some years ago and has been the most reliable watch of my collection.

My job tends to abuse whatever my daily driver watch is but this badboy seems to laugh at anything I throw at it.

I am of the strong belief that if you like a watch you should wear it. Even if it's believed to be "too big" or "too small" or even "the wrong colour" the list goes on...

We need to encourage more people to wear whatever they want as it'll help grow the hobby we all love!

Does anyone agree?

My only gripe with this watch is the sub par legibility being a blacked out watch.

Mate, if you wore it around your ankle, it would look like you’re on day release!

However, I also quite like it and agree you should wear what you like. The vast majority of people don’t notice what you’re wearing, so you might as well go with what feels right for you.

I let my watch size dictate my wrist size.

·

I wouldn't wear an over/under sized piece but I appreciate that it would be difficult to part with if it is a gift from family

·

Always wear what you want, of course. My deal breaker is when the lugs hang out past my writs, making the strange more of a V shape than C. I wouldn’t shame anyone else for that. Throw a strap on your wall clock and wear it, why not?

·

Some people get er....upset if a watch is too small or big, even on here, who cares have both and not bothered if I like it, nice watch btw !

·

It's like the inverse of holding a miniature scotch bottle to feel like a giant. Slip on a G-Shock and pretend to be six again.

·

I’m trying to get my wife into the hobby and buying unisex sizes for “us” to wear. And she thinks some of Our collection is just to big for her….

Personally wear what you love and enjoy unless it is Invicta 47 mm or bigger. 😂

Ps - she sees right through my watch strategy. 🍺

·

Time to upgrade to a Mudmaster 😎

·

I don't care what other people want to wear. But I have found that I don't like watches that a very big because they are often less comfortable and gets in the way. But some watches are still very cool. Like many G-Shocks or the Marine Master Tuna I shipped to it's new owner today 🥲

But I think it's important that people wear what they like. I might find some watches in bad taste, but I don't have to wear it. So why care 😊

·

I agree, you wear what you want. Everyone has a sweet spot, you know that perfect size range which is somewhat dictated by your wrist size. As usual, there are exceptions.

·

Wear what you want / enjoy / love. If the watch isn't in your way / causing you problems, then it's not too big. Wrist size has nothing to do with it. 😎

·

Wear what you want! We all have our quirks about what wraps itself around our wrists. I have my quirks like 40mm is about the smallest I'll go because I feel it starts to disappear on my 8in wrist. Okay some of you may say...go see a shrink lol. It's about how I have a certain perception of my watch on my wrist.

So enjoy all of your watches!

Cheers!

Your wrist, your rules.

In the sense of the question as posted, I do let my wrist dictate the watches I wear, but I don't see it that way. The key words being "I let". This means I make the choice to wear only certain size watches based on my personal tastes, meaning watches wider than my wrist make me look ridiculous, something I do often enough without doing it on purpose.

·

I wear whatever I think is cool. I’ve got a 6.5 inch wrist on a good day and will rock an analogue frogman in the warmer months because I don’t have sleeves to get in the way of that monster.

·

The thing that annoys me is when someone will say, "This 38mm watch doesn't look right to me on my 8" wrist..." and there'll be replies suggesting the person is quite mad and, indeed, 36mm should be enough for anyone, and don't you know, tough guys in WW2 wore even smaller watches, etc, etc.

That sort of thing drives me up the wall. If something doesn't feel right, don't wear it. If something feels right, wear it. So you're doing the right thing. Thumbs up and keep enjoying your G-Shock!

I always say, Buy what you love and don’t pay attention to what others think. It’s your collection.

Enjoy your watch👍👍

I decided my sweet spot is 36/37mm. Yes, I do look for watches in that size. But I'll make an exception for g shock!! They are amazing watches and simply too useful to ignore.

·

Its a doorframe destroyer alright. Totally agree though :)

mate, it looks actually okay, since it's meant to be a big rugged watch)

specially in a tough environment, it will always look the part, you know.

Me, personally, i've tried bigger watches and it left me disappointed really. I've got myself a really interesting Seiko chrono, it was 41.5 and while i absolutely love looking at this watch, if i put it on, and look at the mirror, it just looks stupid on me, according to me) Swapped it for a 39 Speedtimer, it's perfect match.

If you like the watch - it doesn't matter is it "too big" or "too small". Specially is it "too small". Idk which marketing person decided that world needs bigger watches in order to look "mAScuLinE", glad that the trend slowly reverses.

Cool G-Shock, i'd definitely wear this in my "Casio ONLY" days of watch collecting)

Yes.

·

Great watch, but that really looks out of proportion on your wrist. But like you said, wear what you like.

·

Like that sh*t? Wear that sh*t.

·

No, if you like it wear it, I’ve got a Tissot which is close to being “too big” but at 47mm it is a big watch and I love it.

·

As a fellow small wrister, I can’t let watch size dictate what I wear. I have a Mudmaster that looks like I’m wearing a garbage can lid but I love it! Carry on!

·

No, I don't let my wrist size or other people dictate which watch I should purchase. Only I make that decision.

·

If I want it to fit right then Yes I do.

·

Love the G-Shocks! Always a winner!
