Citizen tsuyosa review (spoiler I love it)

I've had my eye on this watch for a long old time now.

Finally pulled the trigger on one and much to my surprise it was an instant favourite of my better half!

So the watch. I went with the yellow as the other colours didn't seem anywhere near as fun or enticing.

Unboxing experience was typical citizen so nothing crazy there. First impressions of the watch immediately gave me old school SNK seiko vibes in the nicest way possible.

The bracelet is solid link with a pressed clasp. At this price I would've expected a milled clasp and the bracelet does have a lot of movement to it. Definitely feels solid but could be better.

In the back is a solid miyota 8210 series movement. Now yes the rotors on these are noisy and this one is no exception but it's running well and been keeping really good time. And for an 8000 series it really doesn't look too bad through that caseback.

Perhaps the standout feature of this watch is its face and its done so well. Slight sunburst effect to the lovely shade of yellow. This watch looks good all the time but it really comes alive in the sunlight. The applied markers are nice but the lume on them is pitiful.

Just citizen and automatic printed on the dial is refreshing as I think excessive text can ruin a dial especially on a more dressy piece like this.

I'm a fan of date magnifiers however the date window is disappointing. Its clearly a straight off the shelf 8000 series date wheel. Smaller text or a custom wheel would've really been the icing on the cake for this watch.

So having worn it for a little while now I can say it lives up to the hype. On wrist it punches well above its weight and looks better than watches much more expensive that itself.

That being said the bracelet is a clear cost cutting area and 50m of water resistance whilst okay for this style of watch I really think 100m is the bench mark these days.

To conclude. This watch is kind of like a seiko SNK + because of the sapphire crystal addition and the newer movement and whilst not perfect vastly superior bracelet.

You research, track, and ultimately buy a watch and SURPRISE, you like it. I think that they call that confirmation bias. To your credit you have given it a fair review. It is not all rainbows and butterflies.

I think that the yellow is a really attractive choice. Enjoy and thanks for the review.

Got that one and really like it. You are spot on with your review. The dial is gorgeous, and the lume is pathetic. I personally don’t mind the bracelet. Yellow is such a happy color. 😜😜😀

Thank you for this review, I enjoyed it. This is a watch that whenever I look at it online I always think about getting it. I think you just pushed me over the edge - thank you 😀

I just received my Tsuyosa fume dial yesterday. I have read a lot of reviews seems like the bracelet, movement 8210 and Cyclops magnifier seem to be most of the dislikes!

Citizen has automatics with more expensive everything and no Cyclops .I rather like this watch $256.00 out the door no complaints
