A VERY STRANGE FEELING?

For the last couple of months I have felt strange. Strange in this. For the last 9 years, since an SKX, I have been on a quest to find and buy my favourite watches in order to make a sweet sweet watch collection.
well! Right at this point in my watch journey I am at ease!!! There isn’t a watch I am running after, researching and checking every review on! There isn’t a watch I’m constantly spying on with Ebay?! Nor is there a watch I am waiting a sale to come on for?????? I don’t need another watch for my collection?!??? That seems weird to type down!!!!
This does not mean I can’t still love and review millions of other watches !!! And obviously we don’t count Casio in this ok….,, OK!!!!!!
Are you at this point to in your journey? Or are you struggling to stop yourself on a weekly even daily basis!!!!!!????

It is called being at peace.

I envy you. 😂😭😂😭

The 'virtual' watch box is empty? Impossible!

·

Welcome...

Enjoy it while it lasts with me.

·

Yeah, I'm even thinking of getting rid of a few that I find I'm not wearing.

·

I'm happy for you buddy, but I do wonder if you are just in the eye of the hurricane 😉

·

Yes! I understand completely, But it too shall pass and you will have an itch for it again…it’s weird right all of a sudden you feel at ease and calm about it…but maybe @Max is right we might just be in the eye of the hurricane…🍻

Hahahaha possibly!!! It’s a weird feeling I must admit Max!

I am at a comfortable place with my collection right now.  There’s nothing that is driving me to make any substantial additions or changes.

The new SuperOcean, Pelagos 39 and a few others are technically on my list but I don’t plan on making any plans for them right now.

I have the new Stowa Prodiver 95 Limited on order, scheduled for December delivery, but I only got that one because the website let me buy #1 of 95.  I mean, how cool is that!!!?

·

Can you pinpoint the pieces that you think have made you reach this point?

I'm at my stage in collecting where I feel I want to be in that position - I'm getting tired of the hunting, the new watch delivery is not as exciting as it used to be, and I'm offloading watches that I don't wear as much anymore which is giving me almost as much pleasure, but I know (and I have a shortlist) of two or three pieces that I might need for me to get there.

Or maybe I'm just fooling myself.....

·

Must be nice to feel at ease and content with your collection

·

Be careful...every time I think I'm at that point...

@MWC2020 i don't believe you have the Longines Bigeye in the collection yet?? unless I missed it!! You know you want it 😜

I've always wondered what it feels like.

As a collector for 5 decades all I can say is "this too shall pass"

You will just fill it back up again. The question is either slowly or quickly?

I don't think so. I have 10 watches and a core of 6 that I'm very happy with:
- BB58 (Diver)
- Speedy (Chrono)
- JLC Reverso mid size (Dress)
- Sinn 104 (Pilot)
- Hamilton Pilot Pioneer Mechanical (Military)
- Casi-oak (Beater)

For me that happens from time to time but it‘s draws a wavy graph… Whenever I‘m „done“ with new watches there is usually one watch that catches my attention and I start watching reviews and stuff again and find more watches I want. I then buy all of them if I can and sell most of them again after a while. At the moment I‘m somewhere inbetween. I buy a lot of new watches but sell one each time so the collection stays the same.

I also started saving up for the watches I really want instead of getting 3 „placeholders“ in the meantime. So my collection has generally shrunk but its value has tripled or so. I find myself enjoying the icons I always wanted way more and way longer than every other watch I bought inbetween.

That is not to say that there is no impulse buy every now and then. I‘ll show you one of them later today in fact ;) Very excited to unbox it!

I previously collected guns, and only stopped when I couldn't justify another gun safe. Watches on the other hand are small, and from a collecting standpoint far more dangerous because of it.

I am definitely at the point in my journey of struggling daily. 😭

Sorry to hear that my friend!!!!

·

Don't worry. It will pass.

Haha. Same here.  After filling up my second gun safe my wife made it very clear I would not be buying a third.

I purchased the no date Cronos sub homage. It’s fab.  Do I really need the sub I have? Mmmm!  I also want the Seiko 143 I think. Reminds me of my dad .  Im60 now and he has long passed but everyone wore either Seiko or Longines when I was a lad.

love you vlogs. You are fab . Im a great fan . Keep it up for all us lovers of all watches, not just the pricey ones!

started in 2017 with a seiko turtle... i think i also come to an end soon... just need that one german toolwatch (damasko or sinn) to tick all of my boxes, then i am done 😆

Either the Damasko or the Sinn are great choices, I've been fortunate to get both. I do favour my Sinn's over the Damasko though, there's just something about the build quality and the finish that pushes it above the Damasko for me, also the Sinn 556's are more versatile, dive watch 200m WR, sports watch, field/ pilots watch, on a bracelet to dress them up or a rubber strap to make them more sporty.

Don't get me wrong, I love my Damasko and won't be selling it any time soon, I just feel it doesn't have the versatility of a Sinn, in my opinion anyway.

Then there's always a coloured dialled Sinn if you can still get one, Rhodium plated hands and indices takes it to another level.

I'd like to think of it as a place where things evolve much more slowly than they did. You've gone through a number of buying/selling phases. Your tastes have evolved and matured. You know what you like and right now, your collection is representative of that. Some new pieces may come in, some pieces may leave, but right now you're good!

·

Hahahah Im no where close to this. Being pretty new to the hobby im lusting over almost everything I see however with vids like yours and so many others around Ive learned to calm down and try not to purchase on impulse. So far ive made no mistakes but Im cool with making some as the journey continues. Im here for the ride. Ups and downs. Dont read it that way you sick sick person lol

Been there. It won't last.

Yes!

…until you find a G-Shock display case to match your Casio one.

It will need filling…

Untreated addiction rarely ends well-rest assured the ugly monster will rear its head soon enough and it’ll demand a sacrifice (or a watch)..until then enjoy the unbearable lightness of not seeking😂
