Briefly had an Aachen 42, returned it immediately. Crappy noisy Miyota, wobbly crown, printing on the dial looked cheap, like a xerox of a dial but in a sickly green.
Should not be a $400 watch.
I’ve heard the Avi 8s are OK but the visuals are always off for me.
Later I got the Laco Aachen 42 and thought it was garbage. Looked cheap, crown wobbled, movement rattled, plasticy strap. Back it went. Immediately.
I stopped looking for a Type B at that point and got a Hamilton Khaki Automatic. Perfection.
But if I wanted a Type B I’d either save up for a Stowa or scratch the itch with a San Martin.
Those two watches together cost less than a beater car, and will last longer than any car on the market.
So, perspective. It’s normal in our society to go $20k-$60k in debt to buy a car that won’t hold its value ands we expect to get 5-10 years from it before doing that all over again.
Makes your watches look like frugal and wise investments.
