Which watch should I consider?

Hey crunchers, this is my first poll and I am really excited to see the outcome in this. If you aren't aware, I am in the beginning phase of my watch collection, so I am starting out simple. I intend on getting a new watch for my small collection around May next year and I would like to get some advice from the community. It might be a bit early, but honestly I just wanna make a poll so bad. Here are some points to consider - I have still yet to buy a dive and field watch, but I am planning to get a Casio Duro soon. - My collection has been mostly black dials, so I would like another color dial, but it isn't mandatory. - My wrist is approximately 6 inches in circumference. - If you think there is a better watch for around $150 to $250 (I found these watches on Jomashop, and they appear to be on sale all the time, so I'll take these prices for granted) leave a comment

None of the above.  Buy a Hamilton khaki

I'm partial to the Orient Kamasu, check out my review! https://www.watchcrunch.com/Polo22/reviews/orient-kamasu-ra-aa0001b19b-review-21903

Of the 4, the Bulova Hack.

Good size for your wrist, tough, pretty easy to dress up & down.

·

Are you opposed to quartz? If not, check out Vaer's S3 and C3 lines. 36mm, 10mm thick, 20mm lugs, 100m WR, and sapphire crystal.

I have no problems with quartz watches, but I don't own a mechanical or automatic watch yet. So I wanna get that instead of a quartz option. Tks for the suggestions though, I will look at em too

Best field watch on Earth in my opinion.

For $160 you get: Titanium case (ultra light and nice on the skin), solar powered, sapphire crystal (for scratch resistance), radio controlled (always on time), ultra wide/flat back for comfort, digital timers, 5 alarms, day date, world time and an orange LED light (easy on the eyes at night). Sizing is perfect in my opinion. 9mm thick, 44mm lug to lug, 38mm case (40mm wide when including the button guards). And it's only 28g (1oz) so comfort is amazing. And it comes in around 20 different versions.

I think the presage line would be a more interesting watch based on watches you are interested in.

Personally I love the Bulova Hack is the perfect size and look great on straps.

Not to be a pedantic A-hole, but I think you mean 'partial', not 'impartial'

I have both Orients (or variations of them) and the Bambino is a beauty. Pop it on leather and I think it looks perfect... But I am an old man 😂

I'd love a presage watch. Unfortunately, they are over my budget. I checked for an alternative like the Timex Marlin, but I just don't love it as much as the others I have mentioned

·

I would say go for the Bambino in the new 38mm siize because:

  • Good on 6 inch wrist
  • It's not a GADA watch like the others, and you said you are looking to expand a collection rather than have one watch.
  • The dial is really nice in real life
  • It looks more expensive than it is, and as you move upwards in your collection it could stay with you where I bet you would flip the others.

The #duro is a good choice for a diver and really good value. If you want to go a bit left field with the diver, any one of the 1000s of #vostok  #amphibia models is also a viable option. A "real" dive watch for approx. USD$100-125. For example the 710:

Or the 420:

Otherwise,I'd go with the #orient #bambino, #champagne or #white #dial and the heat-blued hands:

A modern classic without having to pay too much🤪

From the 4, I voted for the Bambino (in 38mm obviously). It's a nice dress watch that you'll be able to wear with a suit or in formal occasion without making cheap.

But may I suggest you, regarding your willing of a field and dive watch, the Boldr Venture automatic :

https://www.boldrsupply.co/collections/all-watches/products/venture-ivory-white

It's only 50$ more than your 250$ limit.

Titanium field watch with 200m WR, flat sapphire crystal, superlume on hands and numerals

38mm and only 44mm lug to lug

Screw down crown and robust Seiko NH35.

The cream dial of the link is Out Of Stock but the carbon black is available.

·

They are all nice watches. If you want to avoid another dark watch (i know the difficulty…), for a 16in wrist, you can look at some 37mm "old logo" Seiko 5s. For instance SNKL15

I'm sorry, but the watch in the picture is not Orient Bambino but rather Orient Contemporary Automatic )). If you are looking for an American field watch also check out Vaer C3 Tradition 36 mm or Bertucci A1S 36 mm

I voted for Bulova in your poll. Kamasu is probably too big, Seiko is great and would be second in my list. Bambino usually ends up in the box if you are not normally wearing suits or formal shirts.

·

Dress, field, sports, diver...

If you can stretch to around $318, the Kuoe Kyoto Old Smith 90-002 is a good shout for a smaller wrist at 35mm. NH38 hand-winding and hacking.

I would maybe go for the Seiko SRPE53K1, exactly like the 57 that you mention in the poll but with blue dial. I also happen to own it and the blue is, in my opinion, just great, and as you mention that your collection is full of black dials I think is a good go-to. Having that said, the Orient Kamasu Red Dial RA-AA0003R19B is a great watch that I cannot wait to get my hands on, so also great option.

·

Kamasu will be the most versatile and fit any occasion. Bonus points for the handy timing bezel.

·

From these choices, I would pick Seiko DressKX in different color if I were you.

It suits with the Dive/Field style while the dial is not too large for 6 inches like Bambino or Kamasu (which both are nice, just a bit on large size especially Kamasu in original bracelet)

Anyway, good choices sir. Good choices !!

·

With 6'' wrists, I would be careful about ordering online, and would first establish what sizes you are comfortable with.

I have 6.5'' wrists, and dress watches are in the 35mm to 37mm case diameter range for me. Lug-to-lug and case thickness matter, and especially regarding the latter I would check quartz watches.

·

I think I'm in the same camp as many others on here. If you have a 6in wrist, you may want to rethink the duro. For a wrist that small, it's a big watch. Some really good watches were named here. For a field watch, Bertucci, Bulova, and, Vaer are great choices. I think I agree on the Phoibus Voyager is a nice diver.

Tks, yeah if I finally pick the seiko,  I would prolly go for the blue dial.

None

·

I own the Kamasu and the seiko 5 from your list. They were the second and third automatics I bought in my collection.

You can't go wrong with either but I would say that with a 6 inch wrist that Kamasu will be too big I think?

I would also consider any of the Vostok amphibia line which are very affordable and reliable or a vintage seiko 5 which size and cost wise fits your bill. Loads to choose from!

·

My Seiko SRPE 57K1 is probably my favorite watch.

·

I'm not sure about the prices, but the new 38mm Orient Bambino might be a good choice given your wrist size.  It's not a field or dive watch, but every man needs a dress watch.  And it's hard to beat a Bambino for an quality, inexpensive dress watch.

Hope you enjoy the watch sir
