I think this is the first time a non limited Seiko has ever gone above retail price.

I confess I'm in a bit of shock still. Whenever I run one of these raffles, I always have a moment where I'm pretty certain it's going to fail. I am not, by nature, a particularly negative person, but I am deeply aware of the conceit of asking a bunch of internet strangers for money.

You don't know me. I don't know you. Any reasonable person would look at this and wonder if I have an angle I'm playing.

And yet you all surprise me again and again. I am so very proud of how giving this community is.

But onto the main event....

Image

Congratulations to @weng_c who donated $30.00 to Doctors Without Borders, a charity that sends desperately needed medical care into the most dangerous and difficult parts of the world.

Image

In my tradition, I will be adding an additional $100 donation to the winner's charity and posting the receipts in chat!

Thank you everyone for your participation and your generosity!  I'll be PMing the winners to get their shipping details.

Enjoy your weekend and thank you for participating!

Friends, this is the last charitable raffle I'll be putting on in 2023. The one dive watch I have I actually like and I don't know that I feel any need to prune my collection at this point in time. I've hustled you guys enough this year.

But make no mistake. As long as I make impulsive and poorly thought out watch purchases..

Image

Stay tuned friends. I fully intend to hit you up for more donations in 2024.

Fin.

A bout of short-term madness, I am certain.

Don't be too surprised if I happen to recant and immediately put the nodus up for charity raffle.

·

Congratulations @weng_c 🥳

·

Round of applause to one and all of us. Big shout out to @Edge168n for bringing this all together and donating the watch. Congrats to @weng_c

Hey, excited that you all participated! You guys are the reason these things are such a great success!

I only wish that I could do more of these things, but funding is limited to my terrible watch buying habits.

Now if any brand wants to hit me up.... 😉

·

Thanks so much for this charity give away, amazing amount donated you should be very proud @Edge168n

Congratulations @weng_c !

·

Congrats @weng_c !!! That's an awesome holiday surprise.

Thanks @Edge168n for organizing & donating again.

Congratulations @weng_c !

I remain ever committed to cajoling, cheating, sweet talking, and hustling as many dimes as I can out of you watch nerds.

All in the name of charity of course!

·

Congratulations to @weng_c to winning the watch and to @Edge168n to running ANOTHER successful charity raffle. So many worthy and wonderful causes

Way to go my friend!!! 👏

For future raffles, I’ve got a list of Seiko SLA and GS divers (either in Ti or Extra brilliant stee) I’d like you to buy, and then not like 😜

BTW your opener:

think this is the first time a non limited Seiko has ever gone above retail price.

…Reminded me that my Alpinist, at 3500 units, had everyone declaring it was a total joke calling it “limited”, that it would live forever in ignominy. Not to mention it was horrible generally. The dumpster fire of hateful Hodinkee comments on the release are all in this vein:

Image

(Who is the user called watchcrunch 🤔)

And in bizarro unicorn fashion- my hilariously non limited Seiko keeps going up in value 😂🤷‍♂

Congrats @weng_c !!! And congratulations everyone who helped make this happen. Cheers 🍻

I admit, I never expected those Ginza alpinists to take off quite the way they did but Seiko did those dials fabulously so I'm not really that surprised.

Who knows what the next purchases might bring? For a GS diver, I might need to boost the minimum donation though 😉

·

Congratulations to @weng_c.

*looks at the list*

Eh? Ehh? Eehhhh?!!!! *Just imagine a flock of birds getting startled because of my shout*

Thank you, @Edge168n. 🍻

·

Congrets @weng_c, I must admit I am bummed I didn’t get the watch. But hey we did some good with our pointless hobby.

Heaps of good!

And not to worry....you've not seen the last of me and my poor purchase decisions.

Wow! Thanks guys! Thanks @Edge168n for organizing this! It's such a meaningful activity!

It’s Seiko’s version of the Explorer! Crazy versatile, light and comfy. Being sub 1k I wear it carefree anywhere. If I didn’t already have this one I’d go with mystic forest or blue stripey. The Alp is classic 1959 style but with modern GS level dials. Mine is ginza/ gion bricks with maiko konparu blue. (Wifey is my Maiko 😉)

( Ps - sorry for thread hijack , someone mentioned my watch )

Hijack away if it's this beauty! I've been looking for this on grey market and prices are crazy.

The dial is beautiful. I wish I knew about it a few years ago. Wear it well my friend!

Well done on this raffle and your generosity! You and all the folks donating rock.
