Hello

Hi,

I’m pretty shy and I don’t really do public forums at all, but I love watches so I figured I’d join the community. I’ve been wearing watches since elementary school but just started collecting, refurbishing, and assembling pieces as a hobby about 2 years ago.

Wanted to share my most recent build. I got all the parts from AliExp for this one. I wanted to do a Fifty Fathoms milspec x Seiko SKX mashup and this is what I got. I like it a lot.

Let me know what you think!

Welcome to WC!

Love that watch of yours! Nice mod. You'll have to show us more of your work in the future.

Enjoy that watch!

Cheers!

Welcome, great mod! I'm giving serious consideration to buying a kit from DIY Watch Club or NakomiMods, but I'm not quite ready to take the plunge yet.

Hello! Welcome to the home of the afflicted.

That's a very nice mod indeed. You are clearly possesed of some modding skills! I'm not but lots of people here with a similar interest.

Thank you! I haven’t used those kits, I kind of just built up enough tools and watched enough YouTube to be able to hamfist my way through some “repairs” to some old cheap Casios. I started with a screwdriver set and just took apart a cheap (broken) watch with it for fun. The real plunge was explaining to my wife why I spent so much money on tiny screwdrivers.

Welcome watch friend! Love that mod. Never seen anything like that before 👌🔥

·

Thanks! Seems like a good community!

Sterile (aka generic or unbranded) dials always look fantastic. Kudos on the subtle accent color coordination here. It's easy to go overboard and get too matchy.

·

Custom! its the best brand out there. Unique and pretty. well done sir.

I am really intrigued with the Seiko mod market, I knew nothing about it until I saw a you tube start to finish,, really really nice, and are perfect and maybe even better , ! any thoughts?

·

Welcome friend.

Welcome! Beware, we are a bunch of enablers here.

Welcome mate ! Nice piece !

·

Welcome Daniel.

Have fun here.

Great looking Seiko. 😉

·

Welcome, you've come to the right place. I think there are a lot of introverts here (speaking as one) and the community is a great one.

·

Wow, thanks for the love, everyone.

I knew this was a bad idea.

I didn’t understand it at first until I wanted to assemble my own mechanical, and it was an avenue to be able to do that easily bc the market is fairly robust. On the difficulty scale, this is not super difficult. I guess it depends on what your goal is for the piece - you get to control the quality bc you can choose what to buy, but you’re at the mercy of what’s available and manufactured. People who make truly custom pieces (who make their own parts) are really incredible. That’s a whole other ballgame.

Agreed, especially if the dial has a strong pattern like this one.

Yes, it will become harder and harder the more unique you want your watch to be, and especially as far as cases and dials are concerned, you truly get what you pay for. I'm currently in a phase where I upgrade all my current builds, if necessary. And I still have to hold myself back in order not to build something, just because I can.

·

No offense, but I really like the ribbed NATO strap. 😉

·

Hi, lovely build keep modding!

Welcome 😀
