First WatchCrunch Post!

First time post and newbie to this horological game…and I think I’m addicted!!!

This Lorier Astra made its way across the Atlantic to Paisley, Scotland today and I’m in love! Also it came with a sweet personalised hand written message from Lorenzo and Lauren. Hey, it may not actually be from them but I like to think so!!!!

The Hamilton was my first automatic I bought in August. Quite a scary large purchase for a first timer. I’m not a huge earner and this was a highly considered choice. And I think it looks good on my pathetic wrists.

Seiko 5 is my day watch. I can’t wear watches at my work so I have a little pouch to keep it shiny while it’s in my bag. 🤦‍♂️

Cheap ass Swatch. Love the gold and black and this was the first watch I bought for myself.

And finally the old quartz Rotary. This was my dads and the watch that started me on this journey. He once bought me a Tag which was far too big for me and not my style but, not being into watches at the time, I asked him to return it. I suppose this journey i’m on is partly guilt for rejecting his gift.

Anyway, let me know what you think of my burgeoning collection!!!!

Welcome! Is that an aftermarket bracelet on the Seiko 5? I’m looking for a good alternative to the stock bracelet.

Welcome! That Lorier is a show stealer for sure. I’ve been looking for a watch like this for years and I Lorier just made the one.

Thankyou very much my fellow Celt!!!! Do you own any of the Scottish brands???? I’m thinking I should support local business?

I Don't yet but I will soon when the Scottish Watch Company start producing.

Welcome to WC 😀. What's your wrist size?

·

Listen, if a watch is too big for you then it's too big for you, no need to feel guilty about it. I don't know how along ago that oversized Tag crossed your path, but we had a fashion trend of big watches and resisting it was just a sign of confidence and self-respecting style.

The Rotary could probably do with a new strap, either leather or a wider bracelet that matches the lugs, but your emotional attachment to the thing may include the bracelet...

Well I can only talk about the Astra but it’s very comfortable, it has three micro adjustments on the bracelet and doesn’t slide around my wrist. It’s definitely the nicest wearing of my watches so far. I have a fairly slim wrist and it’s only 36mm and the photo I posted makes it look bigger than it wears.

Oh the 3 micro adjustments is a really cool feature ! Do you know when they'll refill their watch store by any hazard?

You can preorder and I think they are aiming for 2nd quarter of next year.

It’s very battered and probably needs some love. The clasp on the bracelet is poor and you may be right. Think I’ll have a look at some leather straps. Any recommendations for sites to get straps from???
