Uh Oh

My brother-in-law has had his BB58 for about 2 years.

He wears it as his daily driver. I’d imagine there’s few BB58s seeing as much active use/wear as this one.

The other day he sent me this picture and I couldn’t believe my eyes. The watch wasn’t dropped or hit against anything. He just looked down to check the time and saw the dial totally spun around.

Not sure how it came loose, but fortunately enough it’s still under warranty and he’ll be able to send it in for repair.

Curious if anyone else has had anything like this happen to one of their pieces.

lol what the heck

Can he spin the dial like this?

That is broken dial feet.

·

Bonkers! Never seen that before?

·

Wow. Now what are the chances of that happening.

·

For S's and giggles, you should post it on r/watches asking if the watch is a fake or not. 🤣

·

This should be a reminder to us all, a lesson in humility. Even the meticulous technicians at the Rolex factory are still human; and they most definitely make mistakes. Even the "untouchable" brands suffer the sting of failure sometimes.

·

Hmm... I only read (several times) about strange problems with just Tudor and Invicta...

·

Agree with ThirdWatch definitely broken dial feet. Well its just happened sort of to me, a mate at work has a 70s omega seamaster left to him by his dad, anyway I've been badgering him for months to get it serviced. So he brought it in to work for me to take it to my watch guy for a service and lo and behold the dial was misaligned, not as bad as your brother in law's. Turns out the feet were already broken and had been glued on before, so it does happen if rarely thank goodness.

·

Judging from the bezel scuffs at 4 and 36-37 minutes, that piece has had its fair share of hard knocks…

·

Do keep us updated like what did the service ppl said on why did this happen?

It sure has. He does not baby it at all.

·

Shit happens and then you wipe🤣

·

Definitely broken dial feet as others have said. It can happen to even the mightiest of brands 😉

Needs shiny new feet...

He should really stop the watch, if there's a dial foot whizzing around the case it'll probably cause more damage than just the dial being out of whack.

·

Happened to my wife's breitling super ocean,it was still under warranty so off it went came back not happened again

·

Yep the seiko Bellmatic I inherited from my father has this “feature”…

·

Is it the new MAD1 in blue ?

Just how rough is he with his watch? Kinda surprised to see a new-ish BB58 with a missing lume bezel pip.

On on hand, bravo, that's what a tool watch is for, on the other hand, the feel at seeing $3k worth of watch being roughed like that.

I am now very confused. Excuse me while I meditate and regain equilibrium.

Start fidgeting bezel for the clicking

I don't think those can go anywhere. There are held by screws and if he screws are loose, the dial would have to be about 3-4mm off the caliber for those to go anywhere.

·

Oh man you guys making me not want a BB 58 😭

Dial feet are just small posts soldered to the dial, depending on how it broke there could be pieces in the movement. Tudor will give it a full service.

Yep. It's a machine...machines break. Take Rolex's 1 million watches produced annual figure, even if 99.9% of that million never have a failure, a 1,000 will.

He’s rough with it in the sense that he doesn’t baby it, but nothing I’d consider over the top or abusive.

Over the past two years it’s spent almost everyday on the wrist. The bracelet and bezel are covered in scratches.

But again, it’s a tool watch and he uses it like one. I commend him for that.

He had just been mocking seikos for their QC as well

A bit of poetic justice

·

That's Rolex factory quality for you 😉

·

man that is hylarious 🤣

I don’t know if it’s a QC issue 5 years on.
