White Dials?????

How do you all feel about white dials? I saw this Alpina watch on Amazon for $202 and I hesitated on buying it and then it was gone. But I didn’t know how I felt about the dial.

Whit dials can be cool

After looking at black dials for 40yrs it does take a while to get used to white dials

·

I think a white dial is a good change up from the many colored dials that I have. Plus just about any strap of mine can match well.

They are the best, though other light colors can be very good too.

·

With me, it depends on the look. I've only owned one white dial wrist watch and that was a #casio MQ24. I had looked at that white watery sand dial addiesdive (I think that was the company) watch. Personally, I love bright and bold colors and have never been drawn much to as a main color.

Love them

I'm a white dial fan. I have the GS Snowflake on my wish list.

I like them but sometimes they're hard to read the time depending on the hands

Surely I’m not the only one with a white dials box?!:

Such a good idea😈😈…..oh no….😩😩that means I might spend more money.

I’m a big fan of white dials. Super versatile and typically very legible. Only have one at the moment.

Be strong 💪!

I prefer dark colour dials but I like my Sinn104.

I like the legibility of a white dial.

White dials are fine 👍🏻! But I would not immediately trust an Alpina Startimer offered for $200…MSRP is well over 1k if I remember correctly 🤔

That is the Archimede Outdoor, right? How do you like it?

Feels like 5-10 years ago I saw Archimede all the time, but now they are rare as hens teeth. Hardly anything on the pre-owned market. Kind of weird

Funny you should say that - I picked up this one on Chrono24 a month or so ago. It is the Outdoor 39 from 2021.

Despite how it looks on the photo, it wears quite small on the wrist. There is no doubt that it is a utilitarian watch, but I think it has charm to it. I like the crispness of the printing on the dial, and the overall quality of the case. Although the watch is light, the hardened steel feels like it could take anything. It has zero scratches on it. I also think the crown guards are nicely integrated into the case construction:

The only downsides are that the lume doesn’t last that long, and the hooded 18mm lugs (with the bottom of the case being 20mm) mean that it looks odd if you don’t use the Archimede strap. When this arrived, the original strap was a bit tired, so I bought a new canvas and rubber from Archimede.

The movement seems good though: accurate and the crown winds and screws in very nicely.

White dial with strap matching seconds hand. IMO the most versatile dial colour when swapping straps.

The dials are fine it's the hands you need to worry about. In some lights polished hands can disappear into the back ground. If they are done right they are legible in any light like the CW Sealander.

·

This watch is big but tin and lovely too

·

White dials make critical the aspect of hands… but they can be cool

·

White dials are awesome if done right take the snow flake for instance Grand Seiko knocked it outa the park with that dial 👌🏽

But at the end of the day no matter what others think it’s what you like 🤘🏼

·

I like the Arabic "wall clock" style dials. This Alpine pilot watch is awesome. White dials are clean and simple. You gotta have at least one in the collection.

·

Everybody needs at least one white dial.

This one looks fine to me.

·

White dials are so good. I was once told it takes someone with confidence to wear a white dial (not exactly sure what that means, but sure why not?).

·

I really like white dials.

And 200 for an Alpina is a good deal!

Here’s one of my white dials. I have a couple…

·

My fave - especially when the hands are blacked out and the indices have a black rim around them.

Readability is 👌

·

I bought one white dial watch thinking it was going to be classy and versatile. No matter what I put it on or how I wore it, it just felt dorky and plain.

So I discovered that I am not a white dial person. Tan dial? Champagne dial? Sure! White dial? No.

·

Everyone should have a white dial in their collection.
