Is this watch too small for my wrist?

If it seems like I am trolling the insecure wrist models among us, I am. I know that it is not too small. I am on record about small watches and normal sized humans (men mostly). This wee Felca is a mere 28mm (32mm with crown). It is now officially my smallest round watch. (For the record, I have a Perfectly Sized Wrist or PSW. We all know that is 6.75 in. Those of you with what experts call "ginormous" wrists may wish something closer to 34mm.)

My pictures have not done the indices, logo, and handset any justice. The gold makes it readable in low light. When I first bought it I was worried about the handset. 1950 (this is as close as I have gotten so far, it is +/- three years of that year would be my guess) was an era of dauphine hands. I then scoured the internet. I did not find the exact model, but I found several for sale with the same handset. I also found this ad:

I began to be at ease with my purchase.

If this brand is new to you read this by @ChronoGuy and this by @FlatteryCamp. They know the brand better than I do. Felca became modern Titoni. I have been looking for one of these for a hot minute. It even has a plum blossom on the crown.

Too small? Nah.

Im going to go with yeah...

I'm 7.5" and the lowest I go is 35mm, and I'm comfortable with that size. I do have a couple of Pobeda 34-K which I think are 30 or 31. I'll wear them but I feel a bit self-conscious when I do.

So I think in answer to your question, yes it's a bit small for a round dial, but if you're not uncomfortable wearing it then it's ok.

·

I've worn a watch since the early 60's.

For the better part of my watch owning life that is precisely what a mans watch should like.

It's a wrist watch, not a wrist obscuring watch.

·

I generally prefer watches that fit (not completely obscuring the entire wrist). That one is pushing it, but the lugs seem relatively long. I can’t really decide.

If you like it; keep wearing it!

The lugs are usually long for something like this. I will say that this is as small as I would go with a round dial.

Oh yea man. That’s a woman’s watch. Lol

·

Look, it’s a strap monster:

Looks great! My wrist is 7.5in and I’m currently on the hunt for a Tudor mini sub and a bulova hack. 32mm/34mm respectively. No one ever talks about how smaller watches are so much more comfortable too!

·

Not for you. It fits you fine. Cool watch by the way. But on my dainty 8 1/2" perfect sized wrist 28mm would look like a penny setting on it. Here's a 36mm on my wrist. It doesn't look a much bigger than a penny.

and you would be wrong

It’s not too small if you like it.

Awesome watch Greg! Love it.

Here's my 29mm Rolex on my 7.5 inch wrist...

And here is my 28mm Elgin...no wrist shot yet...

I just want to know if my 6.5" wrist makes this watch look big.....

Also this is what happens when unit supply guys don't read the fine print about watch head size....

Watches were just much smaller back int the 40’s and 50’s. This is about 30mm and I’ve worn it a little bit. Not sure if it is for me.

Yes, very small

·

If you like it, it is absolutely NOT too small. I love to look at old pics of men back in the era of true manliness...with their small (by today's standards) wristwatches. From military greats like Ike to film stars like Clark Gable - they didn't need an oversized piece of jewelry on their wrists to feel cool. They just WERE cool. My next watch will likely be a Rolex Explorer in 36mm...only cause they don't make it in a 34. 😉

·

if this were your only watch and you wore it day in day out for all activities, yes, it would be too small

if you want to dress more formally on occasions and enjoy wearing then a vintage looking watch, it fits nicely

A warm leather strap would really compliment the gold tones in the hands and indices. It may never be more than an occasional wear, but it is pretty.

I can’t find too many places with 16 mm straps. Can you suggest some.

CNS has a large selection and I have bought many from them. The pebbled and grained leather leather straps are their softest and easiest to break in. DeBeers has a decent selection when they are in stock. I have also had luck from European sellers on eBay.

·

I tend to stop at 33mm if the watch is a vintage

·

Ehhh. I don’t think it can be *too* small if you like the fit. But it is definitely smaller than most go, I imagine.

·

You had me in the first part. But then it made more sense. Finally someone that understands that size does not matter. It's how you use it that counts!

When a watch has that little something, wrist presence or a big personality, it doesn't matter if it's 28 or 45mm it will stand out.

Congratulations on your new acquisition.

·

Yes, its small, but I wouldn't say too small. Its nice for sure. I have a soft spot for Felca and Titoni, as my late father's watch is a Titoni.

·

It will look bigger if you trim back the thicket.

·

Honestly I think it looks fine, a NATO will beef it up if you're concerned 👍

·

Too small I’m sorry last thing you don’t want to hear you wearing your grandma’s watch.

·

Looks fine to me. You could put it on a bund watch strap if you wanted to add to it a bit and make it seem bigger.
