All Good Things Must End and so too the 1WC

We started with 47 brave souls who defied their instincts to wear one watch, just one watch, for as long as they could. One by one they fell to the wayside.

The contestants were more stubborn then I expected and I had to constantly layer rule after rule to try to winnow the field. The rest of WatchCrunch watched on in amazement as the brave few struggled on.

A few weeks ago @Max (weeks ago) suggested that perhaps our remaining players were so stubborn that we had to find an ending point.  We settled on five.  Well we are down to five and they are declared the winners of the One Watch Challenge. Congratulations, in no particular order, to: @Deeperblue ; @TheSharperTheBetter ; @unseenhero ; @chronotriggered ; and @TonyXXX .

I has been really fun interacting with all of the players and trying to stay one step ahead. I would like this to be an annual or regular event, even if I am not the ring master. Through trial and error I have learned how to tweak the rules of the game.

So, let's give them a hand.

This feels like a trick... 😂

@Aurelian needs a massive thank you for organising this utterly ridiculous enterprise. It felt like a lot of work trying to keep up with the rules and orchestrating the wrist shots, but that must have paled in comparison to the effort Aurelian must have put into monitoring us all every day.

Despite it being a pain in the a** most days, my fellow competitors made it 100% worth while. You are such a fun bunch of folks and I'm happy that there are other people on WC who are up for doing crazy random stuff just for the lolz and I desperately want to meet you all one day (on my party boat hopefully). It was great playing along with you all.

I'm guessing since they are here they have multiple watches. Be kind of easy if they only had one anyway. But really, congratulations for preserversance.

You needed at least 7 to qualify.

I was wondering how tomorrow’s daily lume shot was going to pan out, but now we will never know.

Plenty left in the tank, could keep this up for weeks.

·

@Aurelian I suggest you host a virtual scavenger hunt next 🙂 I get the feeling your list of photographic scenarios would be quite entertaining.

·

Congrats to the organizer and five winners. Quick, group shot!

I do somewhat recall that but since I knew I would not be in the competition, I kind of forgot. I did read the rules when it started. Honest, I did. LOL.

·

Congrats dear rivals. You are all much tougher (and perhaps more foolhardy) than I.  You're free AND victorious!

Thank you to @Aurelian who has organized this wonderful absurdity.  I hope you have another up your sleeve in a couple months (and no sooner!).

·

Great job you guys!

·

Thank you @Aurelian once again for setting this up and moderating the contest. As @Deeperblue mentioned, it must have been so much work to keep up with everything.

To the other competitors, it's over, congratulations! This is probably the best outcome for us to avoid forever lasting rivalries haha.

Even though I won't be changing the watch for a while, I'm still glad to know I can take my daily wrist shot without any pressure.

Looking forward to wearing my other watches again.

I had mine all planned out, now I'll have to cancel all my props and well, have my cake and eat it. Today was dessert day 🤣

I'm selling a Direnzo DRZ 05 Solaris if you want to trade 🤣

Despite it all coming to an end, in the past for me, I decided to post my last picture anyway, I may as well eat my dessert now 🤣

It's been a blast and lot's of fun even though it got a bit challenging working out the different time zones and what day I was up too, but I was determined to go whatever distance was needed.

To all the other competitors, well done, your stubbornness is admirable and I'm grateful for your participation, without you all, none of this would of been possible and so much fun.

To my nemesis DeeperBlue, seems we are both winners in the end, which I am grateful for, you were indeed a worthy opponent. I'll see you in Sydney Harbour when you arrive on your new Yacht, I'll be the guy wearing a gold Omega Aqua Terra waving the Australian flag as you sail on in.

Image

Most importantly, Aurelian for adjudicating and overseeing this whole challenge/ madness, without your creative foresight to start this challenge and the constant involvement to see it through to the end, the wheels would of fallen off the apple cart long ago and it would of been a shambles to say the least. My hat off to you kind Sir, you're a gentleman and a scholar 🎓

Image

Let's not forget Max, without his generosity this would have been a short lived competition, with no swag I think there would have been a lot of competitors who would have withdrawn after only one week, there's nothing like a prize to add an incentive to people determination to win.

Again thank you all for giving this stubborn old bastard a bit of fun and enjoyment for 52 days. Now to wear every watch I own every day over and over again.

For sale one very well looked after Direnzo DRZ 05 Solaris

It would be remiss not to congratulate @Deeperblue ; @TheSharperTheBetter ; @unseenhero ; and @TonyXXX . Good job.

I also want to congratulate @rocksinger89 - MVP through this whole ordeal in my opinion.

It’s a good time to bow out. I’ve said to a number of people it would be the last thing I would contribute to, and I’m actually disappointed it stopped so abruptly. I’m not wearing a watch today… I‘m not sure what to do now, I had a whole gameplan for the week. Perhaps I should actually do my job…

Anyway, it’s been fun. I’ve been censoring myself for a while (as many will know), and yet I was shadow-banned a few times during the challenge for reasons not satisfactorily explained… the inconsistency of all this means I will not hang around to see who or what technicality finally finishes me off. I will always endeavour to help you with your vintage woes, but it will not be on here, I’m sorry. Remember me as a pin-pallet movement: functional, but prone to wear and limited spare parts available. Some final words of advice: always consider a vintage Smiths.

Thanks to @Aurelian for organising this, and for throwing barbs my way on a daily basis. I know he was struggling with his Swatch, so he is much happier wearing his radioactive tanks now, which is good to see.

Please send my swag to @rocksinger89 - genuinely running this on a Fossil was pure punk and two fingers up at the snobbery of the watch community. I wanted you to win from day one; although I would have fought you tooth and nail to the wire, you have earned my respect. I doubt WC would really want to send me anything at the end of the day, so please accept it as my nomination for the star player of this challenge.

·

Congratulations!!! You are the stronger amongst us.

·

Congrats loony #1wc crunchers! Hats off to you all! 🥳 Celebrate and enjoy what you all have achieved, especially annoying @Aurelian. 🍻 🤪

Of course, 👍🏼👍🏼 to you @Aurelian for staying wit it and putting up with their dogged stubbornness. Patience, you have learned well (said in Master Yoda voice). Hehehe...

I'm very touched, @chronotriggered

This whole thing was a hell of an experience.
