1WC Legal Disclaimer

We have our first unhappy contestant. When told that they had missed a rule they opined that it was my job to tell them of new rules. They even commented that the contest was rigged.

About that, of course it is rigged. I am making it up as I go along. I am using last year's experience and a basic knowledge of human nature to make it harder than just wearing a watch. Some of you do that in your sleep (weirdos).

But they do bring up a valid point. How can I be the final arbiter of the rules, in effect make up the game, and still participate? I will interpret every rule in my favor. I will design rules with which I know I can abide. It looks like an inherent conflict of interest, like how the coach's kid is always the quarterback.

It is a conflict of interest. It is so fundamental, in fact, that of the remaining players left in the 1WC there is only one who cannot win, me. Nope, I will bow out at some point. I have made it longer than I did last year. I have a new vintage watch hidden in a closet at home that I have never worn. FedEx may deliver a watch to me tomorrow. Do you think that I can size the bracelet without wearing it? No, I am about finished as a player. You never had to worry about me.

The WC swag and bragging rights are what are ostensibly at stake. But, if you are really playing for that you are missing the point. Last year the hats and t-shirts were distributed to the winners. I didn't get any of that. What I got was the ability to make connections with many of the winners and near winners over the course of the next year to enrich my WC experience. I hope that each of you are equally enriched.

Why are you still reading? All of the feel good stuff is up there. Nothing of note down here except....keep this on the down low, don't tell the other 1WC Crunchers. In your Saturday WRUW post for this week you must opine about your chances of winning. You can give it in terms of a percentage or just a feeling. Express it anyway that you can. Former 1WC Champion @TheSharperTheBetter will tell you if you are right. He has experience in this sort of thing. He knows which of you are wearing loser watches. He once rode a watch of very dubious quality all the way to the winner's circle.

And, think about your journey. This is just for @foghorn . This weekend I will write about my personal watch collecting journey. At the end of my post I will tag one of the remaining 1WC Crunchers. That person has 36 hours to write a post about their journey. They will tag one remaining 1WC Cruncher, and so on. Each post must contain the 1WC hashtag and the #myjourney hashtag. You may take it as seriously as you wish, but you must write at least three paragraphs of four sentences each. If you tag another Cruncher and they drop out or fail to write their post within 36 hours this rule ends. Failing to write the post ends your run.

I am no longer sad about losing.

I am no longer sad about losing.

You didn't lose, you set yourself free.

·

The 1WC was an inside job.

Aurelian

You didn't lose, you set yourself free.

Fair, but I only took the one watch with me on vacation. If I would have known I would be 'free' so quickly, I would have brought 2 or 3 others.

I now realize that I enjoy wearing all my watches too much to really have been a serious contender.

Are we still going to get weekly updates with the squid game survivors?

We have our first unhappy contestant.

We all know this is untrue. There are many unhappy contestants (even me occasionally), just none of them have complained about the integrity of the game.

Though I admit, I just managed to get a nap in so I am remarkably chipper about wearing this one watch I've committed to.

Well, I guess I overestimated the level of novelty included in this challenge.)

Well, even tho I wanted some merch, which apparently no one can buy (am I missing something here?), I always fancy a challenge. I know I can wear one watch for a month. And I don’t mind losing because of me being not strong or resilient enough. Or because I got 3 new straps in a colors I like the most (burgundy, violet and dark chocolate) and never tried such straps on a watch. But I fell awful losing to stupid rule, because @tonmed sent me his watch so I can participate, and I feels extra bad to let him down. Sorry fam.

And now I don’t have a chance to write a text about my journey and a haiku. Sad.

Anyway, I 100% wouldn’t make it through the journey text challenge, because I don’t think anyone would tag me)

Good luck to everyone

Also, even some of most ethical companies in the world like Facebook send you updates on terms and conditions, so now you should live with an understanding that your ethical standards might be a bit off even for a absolute saint Mark Zukk

(Im just joking here, but hey, in any joke…))))))

This is ridiculous. And wonderful. I think the reason I am still in this contest is the memes and silly rules. If it was just wearing the watch for a month I would have ducked out. Scouting the threads each day for new rules is fun in some twisted way. You’re all sick and I’m here with you. 🍻

Your continued participation shall be deemed acceptance of the terms and conditions, as modified.

I guess you are actually right.

But it was fun objecting vs real life lawyer (I believe @Aurelian mentioned it somewhere), so I got my last bit of fun, and even made this post happen.

I also able to wear new straps now, and you guys are here for the next 20 days)

Soooo many rUleZ 😖

Does a double tag (a previously tagged contestant gets tagged again) result in disqualification of the second tagger unless corrected within regulation? Or does "remaining" only refer to remaining in the challenge and double tags mean a re-post is required? I assume tagging someone who dropped out before the post was online results in disqualification? As such one would have to be careful not to tag a "dead man walking"... I don't even know if I am still alive haha 😂

You must choose from someone who was IN as of the last update. I will drop one later today and a couple of people will be disappointed. A contestant is only required to write one #myjourney essay.
