Lately, I've been thinking about selling some watches from my collection that I don't wear often (although that's not likely to really happen ๐ ). I looked at my collection and wondered which one I'd keep if I could only choose one. And obviously, the only clear choice was the Explorer 124270. I can't imagine a situation where this watch wouldn't work. The 36mm size is absolutely ideal for me, allowing it to be worn effortlessly for any occasion, all the while flying under the radar of others. Also, this watch looks good with a lot of different straps, like the Two-Stitch Vintage Buffalo we have it on here (even though the 19mm lug width is a bit annoying).
If you had to sell all your watches except for one, which one would you want to keep?

Maybe the most perfect one watch collection of them all.
If I had to sell any of my watches then I would sell them all. The first one I would buy back is my Speedy.
I would keep my OP if I could only hang onto one. What are you thinking of selling? ๐
Keep the one with the least resale value if money is the issue. You cant eat watches.
My virile, cisgendered, masculine, capitalist 7โ wrists couldnโt make that work, but girl, that is a sweet looking combo!
I don't really like this scenario of getting rid of all my watches. But if I'd have to keep one my Raymond Weil Freelancer would be it. It checks a lot of boxes. It's my first watch, it's gift from my wife and you can wear it with anything.
Ooh, tough one... I think it's a tie between the Explorer and the Railmaster.
Hard to argue with the Exp1. Beautiful watch and 36mm is perfect for my wrist!
For me, it would have to be my BB58. To only have one watch, it would need to be versatile and this watch excels in this department. Many have said this watch is boring while I would describe it as โstoicโ. Where this quality can be a negative in a collection where people are looking for distinct and unique designs, I think the more stoic designs fare much better in small/ 1 watch collections.
I also would keeping my Rolex Explorer, it is just a do everything watch for me.
114270 for my choice
Not ever selling this speedy and at the moment you will have to chop my arm off to get this grand seiko from me too
"Drink... Your... Ovaltine"? Ovaltine!?
If I had to sell any of my watches then I would sell them all. The first one I would buy back is my Speedy.
Why sell all if one?
That's a hard one to answer. My Omega Speedmaster and SeasMaster 300 (toss up).
Crap, missed my Tudor BB GMT!!
I have owned this one for more than 30 years. So, everything would go, but never this one.
The explorer is the only watch where I put it on and thought to myself โwhy do I even own other watchesโ and it happens literally every single time I wear it
If I had to give up all of my watches but one (selling them runs into a few issues, e.g. my ยฃ1.50 Moonbiffy would not be finding much of a market), I would effectively going back to my one-watch days before collecting, where I'd want something convenient and functional. So...
This one is forever.
Submariner 124060
This is my favorite Rolex model of all time. The sizing, the 3, 6, 9 dial, the handset, the dial color. Breathtaking!
As much as I love my Explorer II, will always have my Speedmaster. When your wife surprises you with an Omega itโs hard to ever let it go.
I have to agree, I love my Explorer I 124270 and would keep it if I sold everything else.
I try to have fun mentally having a 3 watch collection but 1 ... I went back and fourth between the hyper g and essence but the hyper g won.
Iโve been consolidating over the past few years and have had to make some tough choices so I already know for a fact it would be the Batman โ Iโd have to pick up an oyster bracelet to switch it up every now and then though.
If I could only keep one it would be my Rolex OP Date reference 15010
Traded my explorer one for seven vintage UGโsโฆ so no I will not play your watch game.. I will take all the watches that you are all selling ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Beautiful! If I had that exact watch, that would be the one Iโd keep.
When I think about what conditions would force me to sell all but one watch, I can only conclude that I have lost my job, my savings and my pension or I am forced to pay outrageous fines, penalties or medical bills which would threaten the loss of my home and savings. Under these circumstances, all my expensive watches would be the first to be sold. When the dust settles and itโs time to rebuild my life from nothing, Iโll probably be wearing my Timex.
