Is 36.5mm to small for a 7 inch wrist? Was looking to buy tgis baltic chrono!

It should be fine. I wear a 37mm chrono but it has a tonneau shaped case and lug to lug is 47mm. It's a great fit.

·

Don't get sucked into the belief that a watch < 39mm is too small even if the current trend is for > 39mm. A smaller case size on a watch just makes a different statement these days. I think the less in your face a watch is, the more it asks why?

Smaller watches make me look beyond brand/model. They demand closer scrutiny. What is it about this watch that the owner finds interesting? What is it that says the person doesn't care that it's not the first thing you notice about what they're wearing?

The 35mm Constellation I own from the 60s is probably the watch that I've had most comments on out of everything I own.

·

36.5mm is just 0.5mm bigger than perfection. 😉

·

I have a watch that is roughly the same dimensions (Aquastar Deepstart 2) and I have a 7 inch wrist as well. The lug-to-lug is probably what matters most (46mm for this piece which is in the right zone). The other thing to consider is that this is a light-dialled watch, which makes the watch feel a lot bigger on the wrist, than it's dimensions suggest.

·

This. Always take heed the l2l measurement along with the case diameter to get an idea just how much real estate a watch will take on your wrist.

·

I have 7.5" wrist and prefer 35-39 when they're available. The dinner plate look isn't for me.

·

My wrist is 7.5” around and I love a small watch and I love a big watch. I have my grandfather’s old Seiko at 36mm from the 70s and I love how it looks. Conversely my 45mm Lunar Pilot is just fine. At risk of sounding like a jerk ‘too small’ is almost not a thing. ‘Too Big’ is a bit of a thing though. I see pics of some people and I see some in the world who just got watches that look too big.

I’m strongly considering a gold 35mm PRX. Just to tell y’all where I’m coming from.

Muhammad Ali wore a 32mm Cartier.

·

Objectively absolutely not.

If you don't like the way it looks though, then perhaps.

I think the rules are bs unless you personally agree with them. At that point, it's just your preference.

·

It’s fine. It’s more you getting used to the look.

·

The best way to determine how a watch looks on you is for that watch to be on your wrist. A lot of folks allude to 36mm Rolex Datejust as a nice example of a smaller case size working well on even above size wrists. I have experience with that and a lot of smaller vintage watches from my own time as a serious enthusiast: the Rolex works because it is quite substantial compared to just any 36mm watches. I have a wrist that is thinning a bit with my senior years but still measures over 8inches, my feeling is that it might be a little small for you but how any watch should wear or appear is 100% subjective.

·

It's a personal preference as opposed to a limitation.

My preference is smaller watches. Whenever a post like this comes up I post a picture of my 31,5mm vintage Oris. I have average ±7 inch wrists.

A 36,5mm watch is a hundred and ten per cent fine. Most of my collection is smaller than that. It has more to do with lug to lug, dial size relative to the bezel and your own aesthetic preference.

·

I wear anything between 34mm and 44mm no problem (round faces, if including reverso then even thinner but that's an outlier ofc). Know a guy with over 8.5" wrists who loves vintage and wears as small as 26mm.

We all have preferences, but knowing that our preferences can become self-imposed limitations that prevents us from enjoying more watches is key IMO

Especially true if you start getting into vintage watches. I have an older Tag Heuer that is 36mm that seems tiny by today’s standards but was the norm back in the day.

·

Wear what you like & whatever size your comfortable with doesn't matter what others think but I personally think it looks stupid but I won't wear anything smaller than a 46mm apart from a dressed watch then I will wear a 42mm but any smaller looks like a kids or ladies watch on me.

·

I think 39mm will be closer to the sweet spot.

Trial and error is always an option.

All of the following photos are of my 7.5” wrist:

Yeah but who was gonna say anything 😂😂😂

·

The Lug to Lug plays a big role, and also the proportion of the dial inside the case.

An extreme would be a Junghans Max bill where the dial take up almost the whole diameter. this adds to the visual presence and make the watch wear larger.

This Baltic seems pretty balanced though.

·

I've got the same size wrist and have worn as small as a vintage 32mm. And still looks great.

·

I have 3 watches at this size, I have the same wrist size, I love them! I also had a Baltic HMS-002, it was just perfect (visually it's a bit bigger anyway because of the long lug-to-lug). My philosophy is about it that there are not too small watches, just too big ones. Too big watches can be very ugly on smaller wrists, but this is not true otherwise (in my opinion at least).

·

Two answers, if you feel fine in it it will be fine. My wife wears this size and she is dainty so for a man I would say it's too small but my wrist is 7 inches and I can carry the biggest watches out there.

34-36mm are my favorites. 38mm at the upper end and very rarely, 40mm

“You’re Terrific” said it best when he continuously mentions that he has a 7” wrist and prefers watches on the smaller side. (He had a Santos de Cartier Medium even though the Large is what other 7” wrist would prefer in this day and age)

In addition, the industry has been slowly moving back towards 36-38.5mm for some years now.

Appreciate it!

7" wrist here. 36.5 sounds fine to me.

·

36 is fine for 7 inches, but will mean it will wear dressier than a larger piece
