What Matters Most to you?

I find myself buying watches because of the dials, looking for texture, Indices, S,M,H Hands and so on. But what carries the most weight for you when choosing a watch?

For me, it’s the case size that matters most, even over looks!

·

Both a & b but never c

·

A and B for me

·

Case. Because it could be the most beautiful watch in the world but be 60mm lug to lug 😂

·

It's never one thing, it's how it all works together.

·

Legibility and/or lume TBH, then size, color, shock protection, movement, etc.

·

Yes, again.

·

All because it is a set of qualities that my watch must have

·

All of the above. Has to tick a bunch of boxes

·

All tbh 😀

I am a bigger gentleman. I like most designs but can't consider most fashionable watches because of my 7.25" wrist. Because of this most dress and cocktail watches go right out the window. My appeal is a chronograph because they typically carry a 40+mm diameter. My sweet spot is somewhere between 42mm and 45mm. This is why the Case is a priority for me.

A combination of A and B

·

D. Size

A, B & C are meaningless if the watch is too big or small.

·

A and B with a workhorse movement. In house movement is a biatch for your everyday watchmaker to work with and I am not in the habit of giving money to the manufacturer on the regular.

·

A, B & C.

·

No one here will say brand…and it’s probably brand…then we narrow by features ;)

·

It’s a mix of a,b & c for me I have to like the whole package

·

All the above have to be right for me

·

Any feature of a watch can ruin it for me, even if it ticks most other boxes. It has to be an alchemy of elements that just work together so that the watch comes as a compelling package.

Now, no watch is perfect. All my favorite watches have a little something that I wish would be slightly different but not enough to be a deal breaker.

I also think the watch as a whole has to have something special to be attractive and this goes beyond specs. The best example of this I can think of is the Traska Venturer GMT. The Specs on this thing are perfect, but (no offense to any owner) it just doesn't do anything for me.

·

Movement for me is almost like a binary multiplier to the overall "score" of any given watch. Robustness and timekeeping of a movement is totally a make-or-break for me (why I stopped buying mechanical Seikos and will always be actively against the brand until they come to their senses and put the 6R in a lead box and sink it to the bottom of the Mariana trench), other than that I don't really care much about finishing or decoration. I can still appreciate a good looking movement, but if I am to choose between say a Lange movement and a Rolex movement, I'd pick Rolex everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

·

For me, thickness and size in general is the most important criteria.

·

I used to think it’s the movement, but it’s 100% shape and size of the case. Bracelet/strap options are also way up there.

·

I think it’s a combination, and may differ from one watch to another. Sometime is the special case sometimes it’s a beautiful dial, sometimes it’s a combination, or the history 🤷🏼‍♂️

·

The design is the main reason. The dial, but the case also matters.

·

Mostly B for me. A only somewhat. Power reserve and accuracy are least important to me. If I need accurate time, my iPhone does that. As a guy, I don’t wear any jewelry other than a wedding band so a nice mechanical designed watch becomes my only choice for self expression. But your mileage may vary.

·

Price, then comes a wild mix of movement, design, case material, size etc.

·

The design matters a lot of course but above a certain price level I care more about the history of the watch, what it represents and how it fits into my watch collection.

·

It's got to all come together and fit my style

Case. Because it could be the most beautiful watch in the world but be 60mm lug to lug 😂

No matter what my girl tells me, I know SIZE MATTERS! 😅

·

A & B. For me, it’s the looks package that comes first and foremost.
