Changing Watches

Ok I have a question for you guys...When you are having a day at the house with family or just a relaxing day...do you ever change watches periodically throughout the day? I find myself doing this. I will wear my GMT for a few hours then swap it out for something else and so on. Does anyone else do this or did I reach max nerd level for this money sucking hobby?

I do this all the time. I tell myself it’s to track long term accuracy of multiple movements 🤷‍♂️which is a testament to the human brain’s capacity to rationalize.

·

I’ll be changing when I cook pretty often, though I’m not above just random swaps here and there.

·

all the time. Usually, I wear my Omiwatari, but if i start cooking I will put on my quartz with a bracelet.  Or if i leave the house I will put on one that fits where I go...  then when I get home at night I will put on my comfortable one that I dont mind sleeping it... I change  alot lol

·

Wow. That sounds pathological...

And I mean it in the nicest possible way 🙂

·

Not to that extend, but I do tend to change my day watch for an evening/night watch when I go out. Often it‘s combined with changing my outfit, but not always…

·

I can completely relate to your statement. I normally rotate between around half a dozen watches that I like to wear frequently. I normally put on one watch for the morning hours and then I switch for the afternoon and then another one in the evening. I’ll also change my watch, depending on the activity that I’m partaking in at the time. For example, I’ll wear my Tudor Black Bay Ceramic when working in the kitchen or giving the dogs a bath so I don’t need to worry about scratching it or getting water inside the movement. But I really just like wearing multiple watches daily. I have so many that I like to experience them more frequently than just one a day. Another reason I like to wear multiple watches is so that I can keep them wound and track the accuracy over the length of a few days. I know this isn’t normal behavior.

I ain't tellin'.

·

I work from home so I change my watches likely 2 or 3 times a day. Oh the shame. lol

·

Pretty much.

·

Yup

·

I change watches depending on if what I picked in the morning works for things I end up needing to do. Like yesterday I needed to change to a G-shock while I welded something, but after I cleaned up, I put the Seiko back on.

·

I'm pretty strict about staying committed to my first choice. I will put on a beater while doing rough work tho

·

I think we can all agree that you reached max-nerd-level.

Often I wear a watch for a full week, mostly if it's brandnew. More typically, I put on a different watch on in the morning, and it'll be my all-day watch (as today). Sometimes, I don't get the feeling for that watch, and then I switch it out at work where I keep a drawer of watches. When I do this I often switch it again when I'm back home.

I rarely use watches for special occasions, but on a day where I teach lectures I make sure I pick a watch that is easily readable even in gloomy light.

·

Yep, often find myself doing this depending on my mood or activities throughout the day. I also have about twenty books on the go at the moment that completely blows my wife’s mind! I’m sure a therapist would have a field day with all of us 😂

·

Once in a great while I do it, but it is usually because I changed my mind.  Sometimes I will change my watch to go out for dinner as well.

·

for sure , its nice to just wear it for a bit and then swap back to the beater at times , I guess its a but like having a weekend sports car

·

I wear one watch pretty much every single day. I'm boring. Haha.

·

I definitely do this. Sometimes I do a strap "fashion show" for myself. My wife usually knows where to find me in the house if Ive gone missing...

·

Most of the time I stick to my first choice. G Shock on the weekends, but during the work week I get home too late so my first choice better be my best choice 😂😂

·

I sometimes change up during the day. Usually a dress during the day and then something hardier at home

·

I wear a minimum of two watches a day

·

Wearing 4-6 watches per day is perfectly normal behavior....now wearing that 7th watch in the same day, all of you crunchers need to seek help!!!!

·

I keep the same watch on my wrist for the day, unless there is an event that requires a change.

·

Usually I pick my watch for the day in the morning and keep it on all day. Sometimes I change it for special events like heavy work (beater), night on the town (dressy), punk rock concert (digital). For holidays, I usually take along only one (bathing: Vostok, city: GADA). That way the watches become loaded with memories :)

·

I rotate all of my watches. One watch a day. If there is a special occasion which requires a particular watch, I would wear that ahead of the rotation sequence. I would also prepare tomorrow’s watch the night before. The rotation is based on my oldest to my latest. Same thing with my folders.

·

For me depends on the day and what I am doing - yard work requires a Casio once finished will swap with one of my nicer watches. If I am working out then back to the Casio.

·

yep, totally do that, it’s completely fucking mental 🤣.

Sometimes at night, my misses is asleep so i have To creep in the room and open a creaky cupboard door to get to my watch box and stick a couple in my pocket to sneak out again.

She caught Me Once… the shame… she looked at me like i was 8 years old. It was pathetic. 😂

·

Home-Office give me the opportunity to wear the right watch for every Meeting 😂😜

So, no, you're not the only one 😎

·

How it usually goes for me watch wise:

1 my square g shock is my morning watch/the watch I sleep in as it's my morning alarms. It's also the watch I put on before bed.

2 my work watch, usually one of the more utilitarian g shocks. If I know I'm going to be at the desk all day I put on something different, maybe my casioak, pro diver, Casio Royale, analog timex or what have you. Theoretically all my watches are work watches.

3 afterwork watch, tends to be my snk or gold casio or titanium citizen or nice seiko chronograph. Also those watches tend to be watches when I'm going out.

If I'm just hanging out at my place I will switch watches like every hour until i figure out which one I want to wear.

·

If I'm not under the shower or sleeping, a watch is on my wrist.
