Pelagos 42 - too big?

Been really interested in trying a Pelagos 42 lately but unsure about its size. I've mostly owned 38-40mm watches since I have a wrist size of about 6.7cm

Does this look too big or out of proportion on my wrist? Pelly owners, how do yours fit on a small/medium-sized wrist?

It looks slightly big, but it could be due to the camera lens skewing the image slightly. Look at yourself in a full length/half body mirror, standing about 3 feet from the mirror and see how it wears on you overall. It’s a better view than just a wrist shot.

·

I actually don’t think think it looks too big. It’s definitely borderline, but I think it has presence. The lugs are just inside the edges of your wrist.

·

I always thought 42 was too big for me and waited for the 39… the 39 took away a couple details that I love about the original Pelagos so… I tried on the 42, it looked great (similar to your pic), and I haven’t looked back!

·

It's fine though on the larger size. If you like it, own it!

Jesus how much text did the cram on the dial?

You cant go wrong with either the 42 or 39... i will say i think the 39 would look better on your wrist, but you can pull off the 42 too. Spec wise the 42 is superior, but it really doesnt matter for 99.9999% of us - the 39 has plenty going for it. My 0.02 🍻

If you like it - truly like it and it's comfortable on YOUR wrist - then rock it. My wrist is tiny, also, and the regular Pelagos was too big for me, as I can only pull off 48L2L. I know that the aesthetic is different, but the Pelagos 39 is still QUITE a watch, even if you give up some of the rugged appeal of the original.

Ultimately, it's how it makes you feel. 🙂 If you are really sweating it, you could always buy a replica/homage to see how a very close size fits after a couple weeks. Then you only lose $200 instead of trying to resell $4K.

For my money, the original was too big on my wrist, but I loved the 39 for fit and finish. Bottom line is that if YOU love it and it's comfy and everything you wanted it to be for your money, don't sweat our opinions. 🙂 I still love a chonky Panerai on my wrist, and I know I can't wear those, so I get it!

Hope that helps!

I say it looks great! Go for it.

·

Try the FXD. It wore smaller on my wrist that the normal pelagos with bracelet. To be hotter I was positively surprised. I also like 40 and below, 6 3/4 wrist.

·

It’s wearing your wrist.

It is common knowledge at this point. It has been a talking point for years.

·

It’s a dive watch, it should be on the larger size. I think it looks great!

·

My rule sport watches need to have a big presence on your wrist especially divers and Pilot watches. When it comes to dress watches 40mm and below.

·

It fits nicely. But definitely a presense as compared to your 38-40mm watches. Its a dive watch. Itll look good big anyway.

·

I think it's large. I'd wait and see what colours they come out for the 39mm.

·

If you have a wrist size of 6,7 cm you probably should wear a sweet little pebble or bead 😅

In all honesty, though, I’d find it too big in the long run.

In the honeymoon phase it „fits like a glove“. After you switched back and forth between (smaller) watches you’ll soon find that this one is a chunky boi.

Trust me. I went through that…

Politely; fuck everyone, that looks stellar. I bet it looks perfect on wrist in person vs on a silly camera phone.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Here's some full body

It looks OK, big yeah, but not massive. If you like how it feels then you've no problem. Maybe before you go for it, get something cheaper of a simlar size (possibly even a clomage) wear it for a couple of days and you'll know for shure.

·

It's borderline. You look at it and think, yeah, that's a bit big.

But it's not obnoxious. Looks like the bracelet needs a serious resizing.

·

You can totally make this work.

·

Ever so slightly to big.. but…. If u like it then it works my man👍

haha yeah you’re totally right the angle of the photo plays a huge factor. Here’s a photo of it from afar

Easily works for you imo. Wrist shots that are straight down can make a watch look much bigger than it really is.

·

Looks great to me.

·

Vote for 39 instead of 42, if it is not your secondary watch.

·

It’s not big, it’s a statement. Get the 42mm.

·

There is no such thing as too big or too small- there’s just what you’re comfortable with.

·

My wrist size is 6”2, so anything I wear will look big for other. So I’m quite used to big watches.

This looks just fine to me

·

Yes, far too big for you

·

I own the same watch. Love the blue! It's the biggest watch I have. 17cm wrist. I still prefer the 42 over the 39. I wear it when I want some presence on my wrist. I say go for it.
