This is complicated - I have peaked

I have bought my end game watch when it comes to complications. I have aspired for a moonphase for long. One of my favourite brand is JLC. The Master Control Calender has been the target since they launched their updated lineup. Now I have this beautiful watch. I say I peaked when it comes to complications in a watch. Beside the beautiful dial and the Moonphase it has date, day and month. Particularly the date hand is spectacular. Jumping from the 15th to 16th avoiding to get in the way for the Moonphase.

The timing was the result of what I have described earlier how JLC is strangling their ADs by reserving more and more watches to the JLC boutiques. Since last time I visited my AD they withdraw the full Master Control Line as well as some standard Reversos. On top of that they unexpectedly raised their prices with 20% September 1st. If I have my figures in shape JLC has increased their prices over 30% since 2021. That is a hard pill to swallow. So to be able to buy from my AD I bought the watch on the spot since they no longer can reorder it. No discount but I was able to benefit the price prior to September 1st since it was in stock.

This summer have been watch intence for me. I’m almost embarrassed about it. The background is that, for once, I decided to go crazy on watches that been on my prospect list for long and the expected time to get them was facing infinity. An unexpected stock market event made it possible. I wasn’t shure if I should disclose them in the forum but I realised that if I shall continue to take part in the community I can’t hide them away. Life is short and I’m glad I bought them, but even so, this is not my normal me.

Beautiful. Congratulations. I hope it brings you inner peace.

What an absolute stunner! Have you seen it do the 15th-16th jump yet?? That's the first thing I'd be playing with 😁

I find this comment really interesting:

What made you reluctant to share?

I have to admit, I have been close to buying a Rolex in the past and thought that if I did I probably wouldn't share it here 😆

Fantastic acquisition! Hilarious that you felt you had to hide it!

Stunning piece mate. Congrats. Wear in good health 👍

·

Salud!  It's a stunner and there's no shame in your watch tastes evolving.

·

No embarrassment brother, this is amazing. My favorite JLC by far and on my grail list for a long time. As @Deeperblue pointed out, the date jump feature is amazing. Happy for you no matter the reason for the acquisition(s).

Congrats! A very lovely complicated watch 😉…my Ad keeps selling the longines perpetual calendar my 🤯 when he’s explaining it to me …

·

Congratulations on a gorgeous piece! Thank you for sharing with us.  I understand the reservation.  I don't share many personal details because of a previous career. I do love sharing watches and watch info. I learn a lot here and enjoy your posts

Congrats on the grail! It is a beauty, they are an aspirational brand for me as well.

I have a stick so I can simulate the date change. Stunning👌 And for your 2nd question. I think you have the answer in your comment. And it is totally bonkers to spend too much money on watches. And yes, Rolex is part of this.

Marvelous! I gawk at JLC whenever I pass by their ADs or Boutiques. I sympathize with shying your pieces away but it is a grand feeling to let go of that for whatever reason you may have.

I am sure I'm not the only one when I say "Welcome!" haha

Cheers!

I can see how the hype created by social media around luxury watches has made some people shy about sharing theirs. But this is a forum for enthusiasts and to keep it that way we should reward genuine enthusiasm like yours. Congrats on an amazing watch!

·

Amazing watch. JLC is so underrated. Congratulation!

·

Gorgeous watch, wear it in the best of health!

·

Damn it, now I can't stop wondering what else you got.

It's a gorgeous watch! I actually understand the "almost embarrassed" comment. I recall a time when I felt the same about certain successes I'd had but someone gave me good advice to never feel embarrassed about success (whether financial, career, etc). Life is too short for all that. So it's great to see your enthusiasm for that watch that you earned!

·

Meant to ask, how much fun is setting day/date/moon phase with the pen pusher?

I don’t know about fun except for the date. I will probably stay up late 15th each month to see the date change. But it’s definately practical to use the pin to set the watch properly.

Congratulations on the unexpected turn of event! And Congratulations 🎉🎊🍾 on acquiring an amazing watch😍 !!! 🍻
