Would you ever sell your entire collection for just one watch?

I have a decent collection I have built up for myself. I have 12ish or so watches that I am down sizing into 4-5 main watches. My collection is currently around 33k total. I don’t think I would ever sell some of these watches as they are very sentimental, however; sometimes I say dream about cashing them all in and buying just one watch. Would you guys ever cash in all your watches to get just one watch? If so what watch? Let me know below.

Would be cool when I’m a bit older to maybe cash them all in for one crazy high level watch but like I said I think some are to sentimental

You have to do it when you’re really old so you die before you end up in the same place.

I’ll prbly forget I had watches when I’m really old 🤣

·

I think about the gorgeous Patek I could get and how I would never get back much of what what I have.

·

No, because I do value some variety and because the value of my collection wouldn't sniff the value of that one watch, it would be my only watch for a while.

·

Not a chance, I value having variety. If I had just the one I'd start buying a new collection.

Maybe there's merit in that approach.

·

I don’t know that there’s one specific watch I would even want.

·

I’ve done a big purge a few times now. I documented it a couple of times here too and here we are with two watches that was 4 watches 😂

I’m not sure where I’ll be but I’m excited….

Let’s see where this journey takes me next! 👊🏼

Never thought about it as my collection is not worth $33k.

·

Sorry, not here lol

·

I have 9 watches. I've thought about selling 3-4 to upgrade into 1-2 nicer pieces. I really like what I have so I won't get down to 1 watch.

·

Yes, do it.

Got my Grail a few years ago and not looked back since.

·

I can see myself downsizing, but not selling everything for one watch. It always hurts seeing my expensive watches get a new scratch; I might have a heart attack if that happens to a 10k+ watch

·

Having downsized a few times, and picked up less, but more expensive watches each time I've done it and progressed my collection forward, I think it's a good thing to do. But no way would I drop it all on one watch. If I was playing with 33k for example, I think one or two 10k watches, and some play money left in the bank would be smartest.

·

No, definitely not. I’d just buy more watches shortly afterwards and be further down the rope

Funny you say that a VC overseas is the watch I could picture myself doing it for one day I have always loved that watch

In my opinion they are the best in the biz but I’m biased, I’m obsessed with them. It’s my grail watch and I had the pleasure of trying one on… Maybe someday. 😂

·

Thought about that. Keeping 1-2 sentimental ones and trade the rest to subsidize for something "that one".

·

It's fun to think about but I couldn't have just 1 watch. There are too many good watches out there to just have 1 watch.

Exactly, in like 20 years trade them all and get maybe a VC overseas or solid gold day date

·

No unless it's a very expensive watch we talking here and I would have an immediate buyer for that watch. This way I would make some money on it and rebuild the entire same collection again 😁😁

Gold Day-Date is exactly what I have on my mind.

·

I know me. Get bored easily, so no.

·

No.

·

I much prefer multiple of multiple price points. If I were only to have one then it would be one I already own, my Wise ad7

·

Don't know that I could find that one Swiss Army knife of watches to fill the bill for giving up so many for one. I'm like you, I have about 12 watches. They're different enough that they suit my various moods & dress. Now, I have considered 'consolidating' down to about 5, possibly 4. I'm still floating that concept around in my noggin.

·

I’m working on a post about this. You can’t afford a watch, even if you have the money to pay for it, if you can’t afford to wear it or maintain it. If I sold all my watches to buy one, it would be too expensive for me personally to wear and enjoy.

·

I've been buying and selling watches for a while now, and I've noticed 2 things: at some point I start missing watches that I sold, and I always loose money when I sell. I've already lost about 5k£ (which is a lot of money to me) and I think my current collection was bought for about 20k, but wouldn't get me any more than 15k£. Therefore, If I started thinking about a 20-30k watch I like, I would prefer to buy nothing else for a decade, and then buy that watch, other than selling my current collection.

·

no. there are 2 watches in my collection i would never sell for the sentimental value.

·

We are watch nuts here. I think very few would be ok with only 1 watch long-term. There’s always the “next watch”
