Personally I find the Explorer better than the Ranger in terms of build quality. For me it would come down to how much is needed to top up/trade in to justify the value.
Depends on the wrist size but generally speaking I think 34mm is not too small. I think we have sort of gotten used to standard "Benchmark" size of 40mm.
