SOTC: Thoughts welcome!

Out of all the threads I read on WC, the SOTC ones are my favourite so I thought I would add mine to the mix.

In order of purchase…

Rolex Submariner 114060 - bought in 2020. I traded in my Tag Heuer F1, an older Seamaster 300m and some £ to get what I still consider my dream watch. Doubt I’ll ever sell it.

Rolex Explorer II 216570 - after the Sub this was a close second to get and I did in 2021. I love the white dial and the orange GMT hand makes it a stunner.

G-Shock GA2100 - my beater bought in 2021. Such a tough watch I wear this for stuff like cycling, running, gym.

Omega Speedmaster Professional 3861 - bought in late 2021 I wanted to add a Moonwatch for the history, design and it being a strap monster meant I could buy some straps and change up the look, which I love. I didn’t like the old bracelet but when I tried the 3861 version I knew it was time to go for it.

Rolex Datejust 41 - recently bought in 2023. An absolute classic. Really enjoying this one. This is my dressier one but I wear it with everything. Jubilee bracelet really is stunning.

I’m happy where I am. I would be hesitant to add more because numbers wise this feels good. It also feels like I’ve got all bases covered for my lifestyle. It would probably be one in, one out at this stage but it would take something special to pick one over what I have. Never say never obviously.

Keen to hear thoughts. I know it’s Rolex heavy but it’s my favourite watch brand by far.

That is one lovely collection. Well thought out and enjoyable. You can probably add one more super formal with leather strap to the collection.

·

Very nice collection a watch for every occasion

·

I can’t see any flaws in your logic, that’s a great collection.

·

Why did you go for the DJ with the non-fluted bezel? Usually people who like the jubilee look tend to go all out and get the most bling DJ version possible.

Where do you go from here? Those are all bangers. Do you keep going up into the VC or Lange tier? Or do you start getting fun micro brands to add some color and variety?

·

That’s a very nicely curated set. As you say pretty much all bases covered. If I were in your position and looking to add a watch, I’d probably go for something like a Tank to add to the icons you’ve got.

·

Very nice collection!  Since you are sticking with high end, if you add anything I'm thinking a Spring Drive and/or something German.

·

That's a solid collection👌 , I prefer the Speedy to the Daytona. What a bout a field/explorer style watch to add to mix. Maybe at the cheaper end if you feel like wearing something analog instead of the G-shock.

·

Nice collection. Lovel pieces! As @SurferJohn suggests, I'd go with a Spring Drive and maybe a microbrand as a beater. The dials, finishing and movements on the GS are ridiculous! Bracelet not as good as Rolex or Omega, but they still a good bracelet. I've just brought a handmade Ostrich leather strap with minimal blue stitching that will match the colour of the sweeping second hand 🔥👌

My Rolex are as follows: the Sub 124060 41mm, the Batgirl, and the Green OP 41mm.

I also pulled the trigger on the new Speedy Saphire Sandwich late 2021, as a direct result of the new bracelet.

Image

My other pieces are: GS White Birch Spring Drive, Oris Aquis Date and the Tissot PRX Powermatic with the blue dial.

I'm going to pull the trigger on the Christopher Ward C65 Sandhurst Series 2 Field watch in the next few weeks. CW are killing it at the moment.

Whew!!! Beautiful collection of watches!!! I think you do have it set. Glad to see a beater GSHOCK in the mix. Some people beat on their nice timepieces too much IMO: I am guilty of it. @SurferJohn has a point Sprind Drive rounds it all out. Titanium feels amazing & nobody polishes Titanium like GS! Bracelets are not Rolex quality.  The thread on aftermarket bands is useful. Monica at Righttime Denver CO 3038623900 is a great GS AD. I digress.... you collection is awesome. Keep GS in mind to ads OR look at Omega Aqua Terra in Titanium Also beautiful and Coaxial Movement

·

Tony. I love the collection it has the Chrono, Diver, Dress and field watch. Just one thing clean the camera lens so we can get a crisp picture 😭 I like to zoom in.

·

Great collection! You pretty much have my dream collection! I was able to pickup a new Speedy which was also my dream watch, along with a blue Datejust and an Explorer II! I’m “meh” on the Submariner, but the other three are my top 3 of all time!

·

I was going to suggest a Casio or Seiko based on the picture, but I see that included in your post. Nice collection!

·

My thoughts?

I think you should get a watch which is completely off the wall and has so much personality you could drown in it.

Your choice what, but don't make it a box ticker or a people pleaser. Choose something that really lights your fire and makes you walk around like...

Agree - I think there is room for something more formal. Maybe a Tank or Reverso one day. Thanks!

I thought the fluted bezel made it a bit too blingy, for me at least. Micro brands are definitely an interesting option. I do like quite a few. I think I’m at my ceiling of watch prices so Lange, VC won’t happen any time soon! 😃

·

Solid collection… checks a lot of boxes.

·

Your first two watches are grails of mine , I may need to sell a kidney to obtain one though . At least two of my guitars. Beautiful collection..

This is the cherry on top I believe ( yes they are bloody expensive, but loooooook ! Mmmmmmmmmm ( this a fellow crunchers )

·

Great collection, so much so it could me my own and I’d be content 😁. I have a 114060 and it remains the perfect watch in my eyes. 6 years old this week. Also have a steel date just on Jubilee but mine is 88 vintage and runs to 3 seconds a day👌. Never ever thought I’d have gold on a watch, found myself stalking steel santos only to fall in love with the TT. The fact you can change to straps so easily also made this a draw. Perhapps something TT or gold? or maybe a tank or a santos dumont if you are looking for something purely dress to complete the set!

Great suggestion. My wife has some TT watches - a couple of Datejusts and a Daytona - and I do love the look of them, especially on an oyster bracelet. Not so much on a jubilee for some reason.

I did try on a TT Sky Dweller not that long ago and was surprised how much I liked it.

Very nice and thoughtful collection. It’s easy to focus on rolex, they’re classic and awesome. If you do add (not that you need to) in that price range I would also consider GS.  Or go more sporty if thats your style, Tudor or something German.

·

Great collection. If you asked what to add I’d say two things. First you need a dress watch. Cartier and JLC could fit that but my second thing would be how bout something independent? Moser Endeavor, or perhaps Laurent Ferrier? Or maybe just a Breguet.

·

And you ought to be happy.  It's not easy to get a collection that covers all that you need.  These four would be enough for me

Some nice suggestions there, thanks. A Breguet would be special to add!

yup, that's a very lovely collection, solid for any occasion!

Haha I just zoomed in, you’re right terrible blur 🙈. Sorry!

I still love the collection 😍.

·

The blue Seamaster 300m’s with the ceramic dial are stunners 👏. If they bring one out with a tapered bracelet I would be seriously tempted - I’ve got so used to them now.
