ORIS v/s MIDO

This is a battle between similar contenders in term of price and design. On the left corner, an ORIS TT1. On the right corner, a MIDO Multifort. This battle will be decided by your comments and your wiseness. Consider brand history, movement (Oris 735, Mido powermatic 80), and general preference based on your heart.

Which is your winner?

I’m all about the Oris

·

Oris 1st round KO. 😁

Oris

I would prefer the Oris but for a long term keeper that strap could be a pain down the road.

I would be looking to see if there’s a bracelet available for the Oris - and at what cost. That way I have a lasting option for when I want or need to switch from the rubber/silicon strap.

Mido don’t get much love in Europe but I know they are very popular in S America and some Asian markets. It’s a nice watch but looks a bit busy and less well designed alongside the Oris.

·

Would like mido on my wrist in this instance

·

Mido.

·

Between these 2 I'd take the Mido

·

Do a poll. Usually I would say Oris, but with these probably the Mido.

·

Mido, though in fairness that wouldn't be the Mido I'd pick. I'd go for the Ocean Star Tribute.

·

Both are very nice Watches , but for the money…..Mido.

·

Oris

Since it's a "Powermatic 80" it probably has the same plastic parts as the "Powermatic 80" Swatch is putting in the Tissot.

I'd go with the Oris if I were looking at either of those two watches.

I thought that only the Powermatic 80 in the PRX has the plastic escapement?

I’m all in for Oris!

·

Oris is the better brand in my opinion, I’m saving up for my third Oris now. Though, between these two watches the Mido takes the win.

I dont believe that they are in the same category to have a battle. It feels like comparing Tesla model sth plaid and Porsche Taycan any version. Yes in terms of specs they seem like very close, on flat track tesla may beat taycan in a drag race, at least first few times. But starting from inside, you cannot compare their build quality, their technology and even their comfort. And you know, Oris is the Porsche in this case 😀

·

Oris

Longines or higher in the swatch group to compare with Oris imo

·

Between these two, I’d go with the Mido.

I like Oris, but have never liked this model. It’s the lugs that kill it for me.

·

Oris.

I have a version of this now and it’s incredible. Looks great. Feels great. The rubber strap is so comfortable I don’t mind the proprietary lugs. (And I’m a big strap changer.

I’ve owned Mido in the past. On paper it’s great. In the flesh it just didn’t speake to me.

I own a Mido and love it. I don't own a Oris. The Multifort has been in production for almost 100 years. They are nice watches. Mido has fantastic Customer Support. But deep down you like one of them better and that's the choice you need to make.

I've tried on both. I like Mido, though Oris ain't bad either.

·

Oh Oris

·

Damn, I should have made a poll. Thanks for all your responses!

·

I like the Multifort range generally but between these two watches specifically I like the Oris.

To much of a price point differential to be an apples to apples comparison. Perhaps apples to oranges?
