Black Bay 58 GMT was the best release!

Already texted my AD 😉

Already texted my AD 😉

I have 3 AD’s that i have purchased new Tudors from including a Boutique. I have texted each of them. So, hopefully in a couple of weeks it will be on my wrist!

Rolex was so boring this year. Like they mailed it in. Tudor get high marks.

·

The Mido TV dial watch hit me in the feels

·

Rolex catalogue is already robust and they really didn’t need to reinvent anything this year. I think their releases were pretty spot on (especially in the context of all of last year’s releases). Definitely digging the new 1908.

the spaghetti-o reference LMAO

Thats the problem. Boring and predictable. The 1908 is nice but underwhelmed overall.

·

Did I miss the YouTube microbrand bracket video for this year?

·

Monochrome for me please and thank you

·

Sorry, the only thing I have to disagree on is the "B" tier for the SLGW003. with the new manual wind high beat movement and a new white birch texture, I think this is easily A tier.

·

The Cartier Tortue Monopusher. The shape, complication and dial. Perfect.

·

Could not resist the tangente. Took part of my bb58 (maybe gmt now) funds and ordered the Chili model.

·

I really liked the Tudor BB slate gray. After comparing with the Rolex Sub, i actually prefer the former. Nicer case shape, dial and bezel as well as new “jubilee” bracelet. Clear winner.

The Angelus monopusher is also another watch I’m really considering as my next purchase.

Piaget and Bulgari ultra-thins were cool too.

Not sure anyone needs 45M year moonphase accuracy, but apparently IWC has found a need.

The “backwards” running Cartier Santos was also interesting, although that would really mess me up!

·

The Monochrome Tudor Black Bay

·

Nothing made me bring my wallet out, closest is maybe the updated IWC Port line

·

Some of these comments man 😂, show me where Rolex touched you 🤗

Anyway the 1908 was in my opinion the best watch either Rolex or Tudor had to show, surprised it wasn’t in the list (unless I missed it?). The BB 58 GMT, GMT Master II LN, Mido TV and Cartier Santos Dual Time were other favorites. Chopard and Piaget didn’t disappoint either (the Alpine Eagle skeleton was gorgeous). And no, I don’t know what Rolex was thinking with the gold Deep Sea…

·

Meh, nothin.

·

Another Tudor coming soon.

·

Cartier Tortue Monopussoir. Already signed an intent to purchase application at Cartier. Wish me luck. With only two hundred I’ll need it.

Black Bay 58 GMT. I'm already signed up for email alerts. 🤣

·

You can’t unsee the Spaghetti O’s and I can’t unhear the watch rating spaceship sound…

Favorites…Tudor Monochrome, everything Cartier, 1908

·

Once again, Tudor is asleep at the wheel of the Pelagos line. When will we get some color for the 39? How about a titanium Explorer style Pelagos? How cool would an orange or red FXD be? Maybe give us a remake of the ‘50s Tudor Oyster Prince Submariner in titanium complete with Mercedes hands? Do something that isn’t another BB58!

·

The GS commentary had me laughing.

·

The BB58 GMT got a heap of headlines - and for good reason. But despite preferring a Coke insert to a Pepsi and loving a bit of gilt I don't love it, though that may change when I get hands on with it.

The most exciting facet of the watch is the new movement and what that holds in store for the Pro in particular and the entire GMT line in general.

Another thing that interested me was the new BB41. More than the colour (or lack there of), it's the indication that Tudor are increasingly gaining the freedom to step on Rolex's toes.

Rolex's further focus on hero metals, taken in conjunction with the reintroduction of what can arguably be called a Tudor Sub, is the clearest indication yet that the Wilsdorf Foundation appear to be content steering the sale of steel watches towards Tudor.

Will we see a futher expansion of less vintage inspired designs in the BB range?

Perhaps.

And does that indicate that the brands are ok if (what has traditionally been) a Rolex tool watch buyer migrates across to Tudor?

Perhaps.

It looks to me as though it's clearer than ever that Rolex are actively forgoing sales in steel over an expansion into the higher profit per unit sales of precious metal.

... and we need to be talking about what Zenith released more. The Defy Revival Diver is one of watches of the show I reckon.

·

Was fun to see all the new stuff!

All opinions are my own, please no offense anyone 🙏. Only GS opinions expressed - to reduce chance of being banned 😗

GS Birch

  • bright and hardened Ti

  • 9.5mm x 38.5mm,

  • 9RA4 looks amazing, 36,000 beat, 80hr PR, power meter gauge on back of the movement

  • best watch of the show, but I’m waiting for a brighter dial option

GS - Hotaka mtn, and renamed here as spaghetti . too big, too busy for me.

But - I’d like a red dial watch! Something similar or same (the color changing red) on a Ti 3hand heritage or thin dress, I’m in. 👍

·

Guess I'm the only one who actually likes the new Bremont Terra Nova 38? 🤔

·

The bb58 GMT is the ONLY watch that caught my attention - what a disappointing year! I don't know if anyone noticed, but there is NO traveller GMT calibre <13mm thickness from mainstream brands, except Rolex, none from Omega, Breitling or IWC, NONE, period!!

The popularity of the Tudor 41 monochromatic is interesting from a trends perspective, I always felt colourful dials were fun but not something I might put serious money on, own too many Tudors already but the monochrome would have been an easy choice. I never connected with Nomos perhaps it is my 40 years as a working design architect the line of colourful dials launched reminds me of buying Jello which appeals to me when I feel nostalgic for a stay in a hospital which never happens.
