I think unless you can be "done" buying watches you probably shouldn't even start. We focus far too much on buying watches and not enjoying what we have. Trading a watch here and there is fine, but the urge to keep expanding instead of learning is a bad trend. I think it is important understand what one has, what exists and what one likes/appreciates in a watch, which requires owning it for a prolonged period of time, in order to chase down a watch that is as close to ideal as it can be. The direction with yearly/seasonal "must have" releases and "fast fashion"-like homages, is almost as awful as the "watch investor" in my opinion. Once I acquired what I consider to be the best watches on the market, subject to what I can afford and what I like, I consider my self "done" until something that I like even more comes around... and that is rather unlikely given the current trends. So yeah, I think you can absolutely be done.
