TIMEX IS AT IT AGAIN!

It's funny how just earlier this week I made a post in regards to "Timex stepping up their game," and now this! Wow, Timex is inspired, and definitely back in the game. I personally don't wear "art watches," I can appreciate them, but just don't see myself wearing one. However, I like it when I see watch companies try new bios ideas, and keep it "fresh." What do you guys think about this new Timex collection; will you be picking one up??? PS - All models go for $99 bucks on WATCHES.COM (LIMITED AMOUNT).

Me personally I wouldn’t wear any of these for free

·

For me, my favorite of these is the Hokusai, but I would prefer a watch that has the whole wave on a dial, and they are available.

I can see how the Van Gogh & Klimt would be appealing to those who love the works they are based on.

So ultimately, I think these are niche pieces; not broad appeal home runs.

Great for art lovers.

But to your point, Timex is doing a fine job, IMO. Ordered one of their watches the other day, waiting for it.

·

I love Timex ... but I hate those ... let Swatch do that wacky stuff.

·

I love and am underwhelmed by these at the same time. Was lurking on Timex’s website and really liked the Hiroshige but ultimately don’t think I’ll pull the trigger for the price and the fact Timex has no connection with a 19th century Japanese woodblock print 🤷‍♂️the met collab is kinda cool but I’d rather have 2-6 casios than one of these

Definitely agree Timex has been stepping their design game up I just wish they would step up in terms of specs for money. I like a lot of their catalogue and my first watch was a Timex but they gotta start slapping sapphire on more things imo

·

“The MET” on the dial kills any chance for me to ever buy the watch despite loving Van Gogh.

·

Not my taste but Timex is doing some cool stuff of late.

·

Give me a Snoopy or Peanuts any day.. but these are not for me.

·

I love my art, and spend far more on paintings than watches. But marrying the two doesn't work for me. I can't say I'd be interested in a painting of a watch either.

·

I like the Swatch art watches more, but I agree that Timex is doing a lot of nice things lately. I like their new dive watches

·

I am presently reading a book which shows the design of watches in segments of 10 years. In the mid 1950s, there were watches with enamels painted dials. Here is a website with some example:

https://www.acollectedman.com/blogs/journal/the-art-of-enamel-dials

Watches today have very nice dial but there is nobody that mass produces something else than 1 or 2 color dials with maybe some sunburst effect. If you had a watch with <insert something here that love> with vibrant colors then I think it would be very appealing to have on your arm.

I would not mind having one myself and I did find a watch marker that does hand painted dials on enamel but they are one of a kind specially done for you so they are very expensive. Who knows, maybe Timex will be the catalyst for other companies to be inspired by these watches from the 1950s.

·

My favourite Timex at the moment is the Pan Am

·

I would buy it if it were made by Vacheron or Ulysse because then it would be made with some crazy laquer and enamel technique, the case would be remarkable and the movement would justify the acquisition even if art was not exactly you thing. But since this is timex I am more than sure it's some kind of color printer printed paper dial and very low-cost production. They probably will eventually end up being sold in the Met giftshop

·

I just wish they used better mechanical movements, I've broken two of their mechanical watches 🤣😭

·

Tbh I don’t like when art gets commercialized and printed on everything, I wouldn’t wear them, this reminds me of Vans’ Van Gogh collection, I find fine art on things like shoes and watches weird

·

I Think they have a Homer Simpson one coming out soon

Ohhhhh yes my mistake you're 100% right

Wait, so all they are doing is selling these broadly? The MET was already selling these watches at their souvenir shop with the different artists for many years now. The last time I was there was maybe 15 years ago and there were several offering, not the same artist but were MET exclusive pieces.

·

Do not like “THE MET” font on the dial at all, otherwise fairly interesting

·

Its cute but not my thing. My Timex love is vintage. My 72 Reissue aside.

·

I wanted to check it out, but the website hit me with 10 pop up ads. Yikes 😬😳.

·

It's a nice idea but I can't say the execution is well done

Yeah, I do think it looks great when hand painted though.

Now that? That’s gorgeous

·

Really like these, especially the great wave one

·

The Hokusai one would be nicer if there was more wave on the dial. Was exited when I saw it on the Timex website, but was disappointed when I saw the actual watch. I do have my Hokusai dialed oyster homage so I'll stick to that.
