New Timex Limited Edition with Hodinkee

New limited edition from Hodinkee x Timex, Cara Barrett. It looks like it's aimed at ladies but is a unisex 36mm. It's manual wind and on an expanding bracelet.

I really like this look, the art deco numerals and simple dial, but wish it was automatic and in a different dial colours like a darker blue or salmon.

This robin's egg blue dial is really not doing it for me. 36mm is a tad large but okay. Expansion bands rule and fit with Timex. That typeface, which I really dislike when printed, looks much better on applied indices. And thank God they made it hand wound. Oh, but it looks like there is some silly cabochon on the crown. Yech. Don't like granny's broach on the crown of a Cartier, don't want it here either.

Yeah I can live with the attempted cabochon but with a different dial. And my next watch needs to be automatic at the moment, but I guess it does avoid the cheapest of the cheap Miyota movements which I believe make a lot of noise from the rotor

I don't have any problem with the watch, I just wonder what the point is of these "collaborations". I use quotes because it seems like the watchmaker makes a watch and the other partner names a color or says "how about a little thingy on the crown?" It just doesn't seem like half of this duo is doing much, so I'm just paying to say it's a Hodinkee watch. Meh.

Not a fan of any collaborations with Hoodwinkie.

Good point. I don't think the Hodinkee or collaboration was what made me look at it, other than that's how it got into my inbox. I agree there needs to be something more than just an extra name on the dial, or case back.

My snob meter goes off at the bare mention of their name

·

To all the folks here, this is not a Hodinkee collab...

The colour looks fine for my taste, but this is Timex, not a Cartier, what the hell is that crown? And a hodinkee collab? Gotta be expensive

·

I really like that it’s mechanical. Now this is a Timex!

·

I'd wear that! 😍 Love the dial color, the hour markers and the polished expansion bracelet. And I don't mind the bling on the crown.

Thanks for the clarification, as it came through the email from Hodinkee I assumed it was connected to them given how many collaborations they do. Thanks foe putting me straight

·

Interesting, wonder if the price is in line with a Marlin mechanical.

It looks the right kind of cheap for a nice Timex.

·

Anything but hoodinkie

·

Oh good, another "Tiffany Blue" dial, we don't have enough of those already....

I've been collecting watches long enough to know that the cabochon is not exclusive to Cartier. Omega, Piaget, Chopard, Longines, Concord, Zenith and Breguet among others have used these crowns at one time or another. Heck even Seiko used them on their tanks! So why not Timex for this special collaboration?

·

Nice looking watch. The light blue doesn't quite work for me, but I am sure will be hit with several others out there. Now, cap this mother in gold and add a matte white or gray matte dial, or even a sunburst champagne dial, and it'd probably hit my shopping cart in a heartbeat.

·

If they called it "Tiffany" blue it would sell faster.

Because it's NOT Tiffany blue. That one is more of a robin's egg blue, which in my eyes is a more desirable color. THIS is Tiffany:

Because sometimes you need to work with someone who will bring in a fresh set of eyes and new ideas for dial designs that have grown staid and boring. Check out how Timex completely changed the vibe of their 1975 reissue by simply partnering with W&W for a limited edition:

It’s for the most part a handsome watch. I think the light blue works unisex, as does the size.

I don’t know Cara so that’s not a plus or a minus

One small niggle in my eye is the blocky black generic font ‘Timex’ alongside the height of elegance breguet numerals and a cabochon.

Seagull movement may be good but it’s owned by the Chinese government I won’t buy from them on ethical grounds

·

Expanding bracelets wtf really? 😂

That's quite obvious...

I see, my mistake then. I just don't think it suits the watch, that's all

·

Man, I want that bracelet!

Fingers crossed we will see some variations on things like the dial colour and metal colour/finish if this sells. I can probably see them making a larger version with different colours with an automatic movement to market at men, as all the photos I saw online are pointing it to a ladies watch more than unisex

·

I'm kind of over the light blue dial color hype tbh. I like the rest of the style choices tho

I completely agree, ths colour does nothing for me, not this in a navy blue with an automatic, got enough manual winds, would really have my attention

Another fellow Bay Area resident!! Please post pics of the watch when it arrives. I'm still disappointed that Timex won't honor the 15% discount for first time buyers, and am trying to decide if it's truly worth the $37 dollars I would have saved with the promo code, lol!

Done!
