What discontinued watches should be re-introduced?

Our world is changing ever faster, and the watch industry is not immune to such a rapid rate of change. As quickly as watches are discontinued a new model is reintroduced.

But if you could bring back one discontinued model what would it be?

Predictably, the Seiko SKX007, SKX009 and SKX013. And I'm otherwise not into either dive watches or hyped watches. They were just exceptionally well-designed, minimalist, great value watches.

My hunch is that Seiko will do some sort of SKX anniversary special edition, with a price to match, which kind of defeats the point of the original.

Also Universal Genève as a brand is crying out to be resurrected. If Nivada Grenchen (no disrespect) is being revived surely there's a market for UG.

1960s Seamaster in 38mm, a slim classic dress watch. Cosc and co-axial is not required, nor is lots of text on the dial. Just a good slim modern movement in a simple case.

I think they should re-introduce the prices they used to charge, not that long ago.

·

My biggest watch collecting regret has to be not picking up a Seiko Sarb033 when I had a chance at a reasonable price before they announced the discontinuation of it. Would love to see them bring it back…and not at some crazy new price tier!

·

I'm going to take a hard right and go with the Seiko Tank Solar. I would have loved to have this watch new.

Two that have already been mentioned, the SKX and the SARB. I would also like to see Seiko re-release the Sport100/Silver Wave digital series with the digital and simulated analog display like Roger Moore wore in Octopussy. That is a Bond watch I would love to see re-issued! I have a vintage Silver Wave and a Timex Q Digital, and I think a Seiko Silver Wave/Sport 100 Digital would sell like hotcakes.

Limited Edition runs might not apply here but boy, would I love to have gotten this. Came very close pre-owned but damn…

I just stumbled upon this beauty, and it broke my heart that hasn't been made in like a decade. So my vote would be for the Casio Enticer MTF-114D-1ADF

Wow I haven't see this before...

Agreed! Love the Cosmo Phase!

All the old Seiko 5 with hacking and 50 meters water resistance. Loved those forms style watches they could easily be dressed up or down!

And the 16570 (39 mm and no ultimate maxi dial).

Lot's of love for Seiko! we agree the Seiko Silver Wave/Sport 100 Digital would be incredibly popular

If the way my vintage Silver Wave always attracts notice when I wear it is any indication, it would be gangbusters!

·

Midsize Omega Seamaster. Preferably between 38-39mm instead of 36mm. Honestly don’t understand why they haven’t already done this.

·

The Certina DS Podium Square: I would cut-off and sell both arms to get my stumps on one. Guess where I'd wear it? 😆

The Rolex Submariner. Discontinued by Authorised Dealers everywhere.

Rolex should bring it back.

·

The JDM version of the Seiko Navigator Timer. The JDM model had a grey dial option though the much more common black dial is pretty sweet too.

The soon-to-be-available LF-20W is a bitter disappointment to me, aesthetically.

New ones need color to them

None. The past is the past.

JLC Geophysic True Second.

It is a plain looking watch with a quirky feature - True Second, aka jumping second. (The second hand moves like that of a quartz watch.)

Quite a useless feature but mechanism is fascinating. The second hand is driven by a remontoir, independently i.e. with no connection to hour and minute hands.

If you want to understand how true second function works, here is a video by Mr. Bill Sanders;

otoh for people that truly care about accuracy this is THE complication to have, no point having an accurate movement unless its displayed accurately

Cheating (just a little) but I would like to see someone revive the Gruen name and reissue some of their models.
