Do G-Shock release to many limited editions?

With the recent launch of G-Shock Full Carbon GCWB5000UN to celebrate the brands 40th anniversary, do you think G-Shock release to many limited edition models?

Maybe but I guess it depends on how you look at it. I am a fan of G Shock and I would like a 40th anniversary edition but deciding which one can be difficult. Also there is a limit on how much I will spend on a G Shock regardless of how limited it is. They end up using the same module you can get in the cheaper models.

On the other hand with all the variety if you like G Shock you should be able to find model/color you like.

They have a product that's comparatively easy to make special editions for, so I don't really blame them for making lots of them. I probably won't ever purchase one, and while I do think they have too high of a price premium for their special editions, if people keep buying them, I understand why they do it. I doubt spitting out special models left and right is really cutting into their product development at all, so I'm content just ignoring the spam of color varients.

I think it's more annoying when major brands do it constantly with model varients that actually take some designing and different manufacturing. If a brand making regular watches slaps a custom dial color and maybe a collaborative logo on an existing model, I don't care if they make it a limited time/supply offer at a slight price premium. However, if that same brand makes an entirely new model of watch for a special edition, it feels kind of like the customers lost a chance at a well priced, new offering and got an overpriced, temporary, limited edition instead.
