Tudor Ranger ok to swim with?

Hi everyone

I'll be going on holiday to Croatia later this year and want to take my Ranger along with me. Will probably go out on a few boat trips so will want to jump into the water every now and then. Just curious if anyone else has been swimming with their Ranger before and how waterproof the watch really is? It's a great all rounder but not a diver so would be good to know if it would be ok to swim with it.

Thanks!

No, it's only rated to 100m... Never get anything less that 200m wet in even a light drizzle. 😜

If your Ranger breaks, Tudor will fix it for sure. There is no way a Ranger shouldn't be able to handle some swimming.

·

Assuming nobody has messed around with the back gasket, the whole “M.O.” of the ranger is you can do “anything” with it as I understand (Granted I don’t own one).

·

You are good many times I took my smartwatches for a dip and they are probably rated for 1 meter.

·

It'll be absolutely fine.

·

I don't know, the 100M rating scares me, they test that in optimal conditions. Jumping in from any kind ofheight (like the top canopy of a yacht could add enough pressure to let some water in?

·

Personally I would wear a Duro or something less valuable. I'm not so worried about water ingress but can imagine a spring bar or clasp breaking 🥺

Jumping into water would not increase the water pressure on your watch by any measurable amount. 100 m is a rating of 145 pounds per square inch of positive pressure jumping into water would cause an increase of a few pounds at most. Good quality watches such as tudors will easily exceed the stated depth sometimes by double. So long as seals are in good condition and crown is closed then no problems. Enjoy your holiday and don’t worry about your watch Croatia is a lovely place 😊

I’ve worn my ranger swimming multiple times. Just make sure the crown is screwed in as with any watch.

50m is suitable for showering etc.

100m is suitable for swimming and snorkeling, which means that if you're not diving more than 2-3 meters it is all fine. Also for water sports, they indicate that it is not safe since watch can face some high water pressure.

200m+ is not our concern to talk about right now. Skip unnecessary info 😀

I've used my Longines Spirit so many times at the pool and also a few times in the sea. But i didnt go deeper than 1,5-2 meters. 316L and 904 Stainless steels are capable enough to handle corrosion. Just wash it with normal water when you leave the pool or sea.

Last thing, if it has a screw down crown, it feels like much safer. So relax and swim 😀 If not, we'll see. I'll take my Nomos Club Campus with me this summer while swimming. But also the Nomos Club Sport is rated at 200m resistance and it doesn't have a screw down crown too. So it doesn't mean everything.

100m = Safe to swim. And it is not a homage mate, Tudor doesn't lie to you 😀

I own a Ranger and I surf with it. Never an issue. Swim to your hearts content, the watch is going to be just fine!

·

Computer says... Yes

·

Absolutely! 💪

·

Swim your fine

·

You can swim and for the cost you better be able to. 😉

·

Screw down the crown and let it rip! I’ve done anything and everything with mine. That thing is an absolute tank. Hands down the best all around. GADA enjoy it as it was made to enjoy❤️

100 meters is enough for an ISO certified diver's watch, so it can certainly handle more than two or three meters. Not that you're not likely to go deeper than that swimming at the beach. The deepest recreational divers go is 40m, and that's with advanced training. 100m covers that with lots of room to spare, and is good enough for any depth a non-professional diver is even going to go.

Nope.

Dynamic pressure is only a thing if jumping off said top canopy, in the front end of a Mariana Trench Air to subsurface rocket torpedo going af speed...😅🤏🏻😝

Many parts of your body would face catastrophic separation before dynamic pressure would enter the case.

To the OP, I'd DEF reccomend a NATO or single pass tho. YMMV.

·

Did you look in the instruction manual that came with the watch? Those often indicate what sort of water activities are covered by the depth ratings.

·

Of course unless you are planning on going below 100 metres

·

Do the world a favor and take your (or your neighbor’s) Apple Watch with you. Freediving. To at least 150m! 😉

·

If it's not good for swimming then you definitely paid too much for a "field watch".

So yeah, I go swimming with all of my watches with the majority of them being "only" 100 m certified. I even went swimming and sliding with a PRX and that thing broke while just wearing it on the wrist... but at least it handled water... somehow.

·

You’ll be grand. I literally run my Tudor under the tap to clean off any weirdness when I’m cooking!

·

I trust 100m screw crowns for swimming, even skin diving.

I don’t trust 100m push pull crowns swimming, as I had one fail on me

It’ll be fine, but why chance it? Wear something else, or just take the watch off before you swim.

People are way too precious about water resistance. It's odd how people obsess about it, and then won't let their watch get wet.

I would only do it on a NATO or similar. Sloshing around in water might dislodge a spring bar.

Thanks everyone for your advice 👍
