… & this is why Casio is KING!

A good mate shared this photo of a destroyed Rolex from a bike accident. My choice of equipment is a Casio G-Shock when riding motorbikes, mountain bikes or road bikes, so my mate reckons a G-Shock would have probably damaged the road 🤣. Thoughts? Any damaged photos to share?

That will buff right out 🤣

Or we will edit it out before broadcast.

it's unfortunate for the watch but your mate should count it as a blessing that it didn't ended up with worse.

I always wore in the field watches that were cheap, rugged and easily replaced. For years these were Casio cheapies and during my final years as a reservist I wore an ana-digi G-Shock.

·

On the bright side at least it got rid of the cyclops 😂

·

Actually, this might add to the value once it properly patina'd. The dial alone is... 🔥

I can see someone rocking the look. Just repair the popped markers, put new glass in and maybe something to prevent rust on the bezel..

·

If it did that to steel imagine what it would have done to the wrist with out the watch as protection 😱

A metal G would probably have survived but most G shocks would have been a melted mess. Hope the rider was ok

There is that as a positive, true.

·

Nobody else has a watch like that…😎

·

Oh Jesus that has taken a beating but rather that than my wrist and yes G-Shock for me!

·

Holy shit! If the Rolex is ground away like that, I'd hate to think how the Rider faired out! 😮

Any info on the state of the motorcyclist? As a Rider m'self, this stuff gives me the willies 😕

·

Where did the lume pips go?

·

I'm also in the "G Shocks for bikes" camp. If I'm not wearing a G, it's always some kind of quartz. I mean the vibrations alone...

As for how a G Shock would fare, I think about the same. There are pics on motorcycle reddit of G's that survived a low side and saved the rider's arm because it acted like a slider puck. For that purpose resin is even better than metal; it has less drag.

·

Many years ago a plane crashed among the mountains and unfortunately all the passengers passed away. That was a bitter accident but when I saw the pictures, I noticed a G-Shock that was working without any serious damage

·

I imagine the movement is still running.

Repair the case, swap the crystal, replace the bezel, service the movement and keep it ticking away for another life time.

Or even keep it in this state as a reminder that life is precious and bikes are inherently dangerous.

Even in this sorry state, it has more value (especially to the wearer) than 40 gshocks.

·

you know how people like to nickname their rolex like Pepsi, cola, batman, and such. At first glance of this watch I think of Scarface... just wear it proudly and leave it as it is. 🤣 Great watch to start a conversation.

·

Get it to the Nekkid Watchmaker. That man could build a quarter horse out of a jackass.

·

This looks cool af tho. If they just buff out the sharp edges and replace the crystal I'd totally wear it.

·

Casio are very practical on motorbikes,I always swap out my watch for one ,

·

It is for deep diving after all.

·

All that builds the watch’s character. That’s a collectors dream.

·

Actually the Rolex looks kind of cool. I bet he could sell it for a fortune if he says it's a whole meteroid made case and dial limited edition (1 of 1).

·

I own 6 G-shocks and I doubt that their plastic case will survive this 😂😂😂😂

·

Actually looks cool

·

This is what I mean when I say luxury watches can't be beaters. If you are emotionally or financially upset at the damage of a watch then its not a beater. Would a gshock have fared better? Maybe not. But it would be far less costly and timely to replace

Either way sucks for the friend and hope he's alright. On the brightside another gshock convert so overall a win? 😉

Patina!

Exactly what I was going to post 😂

·

Went down at 70mph (motorcycle) with my nh35 powered phoibos wavemaster... still kicking. I would trust a g-shock all day though

·

You could sell that on Chrono as “lightly worn”

·

Went out with a Submariner and came back with a Yacht master 😳
