Have you ever spent more than $1,000 on a watch?

Yes, exactly once. Don't regret it either. It's in my experience more common to waste money on inexpensive watches, as it tends to be easier to talk yourself into buying a series of inexpensive watches.

Yes several times

Most expensive watch so far is my Hamilton Khaki auto. Nothing too expensive for many people around here it seems. I'd like that my first over a 1000$ watch to be an Oris Pointer Date or a Longines Spirit, but that day haven't come yet.

Yes, but you surely don’t have to in order to get great watches.

·

3x at this point.

- Laco Cuxhaven: $1,100

- Cartier Tank Solo (pre-owned): $2,300

- Santos de Cartier (pre-owned): $6,000

I don’t regret any of the purchases and am looking to possibly buy one more luxury watch in the future as I am absolutely in love with the GO Seventies Chrono.

That will likely be my last high-end spend - but we always say that will be my last, don’t we? :)

KFA, Oris Pointer Date and Longines Spirit are all great watches. Nice taste. 👌

Yes - Much to my wife's consternation...😉

Yes. I find myself more discerning, but occasionally I get surprised by something. Like that Casio I posted about. But I'm resisting far better than I used to.

🙄

The watch was actually below $1,000, but taxes put it a few hundred over.

·

$1000 is my limit including tax!

·

Time has never been important enough to me as much as land and equipment. I can't even keep a cell phone alive for the year. Too hard on things I guess.

Not yet 😎

Sometimes you have to pay for the prettiest things…

😬

·

$6200 in 2009 and walked out the same day with a DJ Rolex.

·

I spent more than a $1,000 Australian but less than a $1,000 US.

·

14 times & counting.

·

Yes, twice now. Once with my Seiko Alpinist GMT LE and then my Pitzmann II.

·

Guilty of multiple occurrences. 🤷‍♂️

·

Maybe once or twice.

No, but it's a matter of time. For my next birthday watch I'll probably cross the threshold.

·

Spent more than $1k US so many times. You should see our insutrance bill. 😉

·

I wish 😄

·

Sadly, there’s not many watches under 1k that get me excited. For that reason, I’m firmly in the quality over quantity camp.

It’s horrifying how quickly you can normalize and rationalize purchases that months ago would have been insane (not even thinking about finances but about what society deems as normal behavior 😂)
