Hi. Not knowing your life style or pursuits I’ll put my two pennies worth in. Maybe go with the IWC at this stage of your life. You may go on to get Cartier later. Congratulations and enjoy whichever you choose

Both really nice watches 🔥my only advice would be to go pre owned but its personal preference I like a bargain 👌more money more watches.

Love both of these. Surely the IWC is better at this point in life? Get the Cartier for your wedding day.

My preference would be for the Santos Dumont but factor in that I'm a lot older than you. For a younger man the IWC would be a better choice for every day wear. The Santos Dumont is very much a dress watch that doubles as a scratch magnet. A lot of the beauty in the watch is lost through scratches, dings etc when you wear it every day.

If your wrist allows, I would go for WC. But Cartier is always a classic too.

From these two, I'd definitely go IWC. More versatile - and (minority PoV) I have never really liked the Santos. To throw one more in the pot - a German besides the Swiss and French pieces you have presented - Nomos Orion NEOMATIK 41 DATE NEW BLACK, Ref 366. With complimentary engraving :)

The cartier pictured looks more for formal office/gala wear and the iwc is more for casual and sporty use. They each have their place and depends on your personality and work environment. The iwc is more versatile in my opinion.

I looked at a few cartier last month in the metal and none really attracted me so my biased advice and choice would be... 😁

If you’re anything like I was in my early 20s I’d say the IWC makes more sense. Love the santos tho. Tried in that exact model the day I left the AD with my black bay pro. I’m gonna throw you another alt.

Both are amazing as you already know. Cartier is too dressy for me, would go for the IWC to be used in different situations. But if you already have a collection and different watch styles, Cartier can be the choice.

FYI these can be had for a discount at ADs - I wouldn’t let them pressure you into paying full price, just call around and you’ll find someone with a few extra Mark XX’s in their inventory for 10-15% off. They’re great - if you cycle through 3-4 watches in your collection you’ll really appreciate the 120 hour power reserve.

I own a Mark XX and it is on my wrist 50 % of my time. Beware.

IWC would be a more GADA watch. As said above, get the Cartier for a special celebration.
