I just bought the gilt BB58 and will be selling my Sub. I'm not doing it to save money. I'm doing it because right now I just like the Black Bay more.
Way to go! Congrats. I’ve been looking at that same list of watches for the last 6 months (+ the BB Burgandy and the Blue 58). I’ve been through some bigger cities for work this week so I’ve tried them all on a couple of times just in the last few days. How did you land on the 54? I find myself coming back to the BB58 in original black and I’m getting close to going for it. Fun stuff. Thanks for sharing & enjoy your new watch 👍🏻
Norqain. The name is a complete dealbreaker for me. It sounds like something a marketing team for a pharmaceutical company came up with.
Anybody know why it’s thicker than the BB58? 13.6mm vs 11.9mm. Is this because of the METAS movement? I hate to be picky but as others have said above, I’d like to see a monochrome version of the 39mm BB58 with t-fit. I’m actually okay with the fake rivets on the 3 link bracelet.
Every time I take a shower. It’s a sub. I’ll also pop off the bezel and clean under it every few months if it’s getting tight. I wear it pretty hard so it’s often sweaty & dirty. Some of that gets under the bezel.
Many of the comments here are about “everyone” having these watches… I’m curious, how often do you all even see other people wearing nice, or interesting watches? I rarely see anyone wearing a watch that catches my attention. Maybe it depends on your profession, I’m in the travel/outdoor world. I fly a lot and see watches in airport lounges sometimes but that’s about it. I’d guess people in finance, law, banking, etc. may see watches in the wild more frequently. The reason I mention this is that recently the BB58 (black) has caught my attention. I have no idea why it’s taken so long for me to really notice it. And one of the reasons I’ve been reluctant to pull the trigger is that it’s so popular… but honestly, I’ve never actually seen anyone wearing one. I live in SLC, like I said, I travel frequently, it’s not like I don’t get out… anyway, just curious.
