Do you *actually* use your watch case?

Title says it all. I try my best to use my watch case. Truly. But I'll use one watch then the next then the next and I can't be fucked to put them back into the watch case. Why go through all the effort if I'm going to be potentially be using my Seiko GMT the next day? Like...nah man. It's....such a struggle. A first world problem, some would say. Believe it or not, but this second photo is not as bad as it usually could be. I had nearly everything out of the watch case. But I had some time off and put in a bit of effort to put away the watches that I wasn't frequently using. But I'd bet a watch that a load of them are going to be out of the box again before the end of the month.

So what's up? Do you use your watch case or nah?

No bet here my good man. My problem is the extra watches get shoved into the bottom drawer of the watch case. Otherwise, I’m a little OCD so I try to get my watches back in their home.

·

That would drive me crazy to have my watches laying around. I keep them well organized in watch boxes. It’s not that hard to open the box and put them onto a pillow to keep them safe from damage. I will say I’m not so careful with G-Shocks, etc.

·

Yeah, I use my watch boxes - my watches bring me a certain level of joy, so the least I can do is to take good care of them through proper storage/protection against dust, the elements, etc. ……but that’s just me 🤙

·

I keep the ready use watches within reach of my chair and the rest in the box where they would otherwise gather dust.

·

I 3D print my watch stands. Allow easy access to them. Don't even need to buckle the strap. Very convenient.

I did "invent" a new easy way to place my daily watches, that I often change between...

I did simply put slim watches ON the pillows and not around them... And thick watches ON one or two slim pieces of foam - but the watches I rarely use, do I still store around pillows...

As you can see in the first / left box here, if you click the photo and look close...

How do you feel about making the bed?

Watches are cleaned and returned to the case after wearing. I treat them with care and respect, regardless of their value.

Yesterday I spent the day shoveling & spreading mulch while wearing my $8.99 Orkina, and when I was done I carefully wiped it down - making sure it was clean as new - and put it back in the case.

Take care of your things and they'll take care of you.

I have two cases at present, and I use them religiously. One is for the watches in heavier rotation; the other for the ones that only get worn occasionally. (And of course watches can and do migrate from one case to the other.) Most of my watches are of a value that wouldn't, if I owned just one, merit special protection--but all together, as a collection, they bring me (like @VuTang wrote above) a certain level of joy, so I feel it's only right to take good care of them. The special treatment seems to imbue even the cheapest beaters with extra value. And I've enjoyed making the fussing around part of my daily routine. Working exclusively from my home office, I lack meaningful barriers between my professional and personal lives: there's no commute, no separate space. What's left is the ritual of the watch. Once it's strapped on, the work day is (more or less) underway; at quitting time it goes back into the case before my nightly shave. (Another bit of fussing that I've recently learned to embrace.) I suppose the routine would be complicated somewhat if I ever left the house in the evening for food or fun or whatever some other people seem to indulge in. But honestly it's never come up!

OCD here. I have to put them back when done wearing it. That's me lol

Enjoy the watch!

Cheers

I am meticulous about putting my watches back in their box, LOL 🤣 I guess with certain things I am OCD 😎 I love the way they look in their box, and on the plus side, if I run a glass cleaner wipe across the crystal, and then put it in the box, the box lid keeps the dust off of it, and the watch gleams through the lid's glass top. Ahh, so satisfying. 😎

Yes I’m OCD clean 😂

Let me show you what OCD looks like:

See that cloth? That's what I use to clean my watches before I put them back in the box.

You have an awful lot of spring bar tools!

Love the nato on the Pluto Moonswatch.

Holy fuck man, you've got a fucking Resco hahahahaha. The only other person I met with a Resco was a bartender in San Diego. Those pieces were one of the catalysts that reallyyyyyyyyyyyy got me going with watch collecting. To be more precise, it was the Gen 2 Patriot.

THIS. My Casios/G-Shocks often get the standard "drawer treatment", but with all my other watches, I try to be as careful and organized as possible. Hence, I always put them back onto their designated pillow in my watch box after wearing them.

Have you ever heard something of Jordan Peterson? I do recommend! 😂

Thanks! That is only a fraction of spring bar tools believe it or not. They come with almost every strap I buy, and as you can see I have a self-restraint issues...

·

I do, but chalk that up to severe OCD. Also it's cases, not case. 😜

LOL loves me some RESCO!!! Totally underrated with a real connection as a dive watch. That Gen Two Patriot is an awesome dive watch! My Gen One Patriot will never leave the collection

·

I use mine, during the week, a handful might be laying around, but I usually round them up and put them back in the case

·

At the end of the day, I wipe down the watch and back in the case it goes. I've only had my case since Christmas. Before that, I used a combination of a box and old waterproof iPad cases to keep them corralled. I still use the iPad cases for watches I don't wear as often and all my straps.

It's such a heavy piece too. I love it. I'd like to say that I'd own one someday, but at that price point, there's a plethora of other watches that I'd like to acquire first lol.

Yeahhhhhhh right now I've got three g-shocks out and my two main Seikos. Trying to be better about it and stowing away watches that I use here and there.

Agreed on the price point. So much competition that are all outstanding watches.
