It’s not that I don’t like leather straps, but I like to pretty much wear my watches all the time, wake, sleep, shower, beach, mountains, and everywhere in between - I just feel that with leather straps, I’d have to remove it when doing some normal day to day stuff - shower, doing dishes, etc.
That being said, I do think a nice leather strap would work on some occasions - weddings, fancy soirée - but I’d generally go with a metal straps in those occasions, myself.
This MAY be a hot take - but leather straps are my least favorite straps to have on a watch. I’d rank my preferences of straps like so:
Metal Bracelets (the Monta bracelets are *chefs kiss* so good
Silicone/rubber
Seatbelt Nylon/NATO
Canvas/Sailcloth
Leather
You do you, my guy! People tend to be weird about cross pollinating brands and I never understood it. Also happens with clothing - some folks go crazy if you dare to put Jordans on with a Adidas hoodie. Unless you’re being paid for by the brand, do what makes your heart sing!
I absolutely love that people on here are willing to share their collecting habit because it makes me feel seen - but along with my watches, I’m also a massive drinkware collector(I’m pretty drink agnostic, but usually keep it with tea, coffee, or water) - here’s a shot of what I’ve got at home:
That being said - I appreciate the words of wisdom. I’m not looking for the be all end all, one watch collection. I’d be lying to myself if I said I’d be able to pull that off. On a very practical level, I can’t justify spending more than the retail price for a Sub on a watch - so part of it is finally getting to a point where I don’t feel the pull of pricey watches. (Which I think attaining the sub will do for me).
