Sacrilege? Brand crossover

So, I enjoy putting my watches on different straps occasionally, feels like a new watch. However, my friend was horrified to see my Rolex Sub on an Omega strap with deployment clasp. What are you views? Sacrilege? In fairness, I love my Omega deployment straps, and pretty much any brand I own I’d gonna end up on one, leather or rubber!

Personally, not my favorite combo. That being said, I think it’s great that you’re doing what you like with your watch and enjoying it!

·

I'm a purist and like to keep originality. But hey, do whatever you enjoy! 👍

·

😂 Agreed, the Omega loopless Deployant clasp is superb!

·

If on leather deployant, kind of like wearing brogues with a scuba suit. A unique look. Anything goes nowadays, so why not?

·

Put it on anything I say ,I prefer rubber or NATO straps ,my wife hates it when I take my watches off the original bracelet

Just like putting a Chevy 350 into a Ford Mustang. It will annoy the purists but gets the job done.

And only person it's annoying is your friend, no one else will notice nor care, even if you wore a sign around your neck stating what you're doing.

Enjoy, brother! 👍

I thought I felt a Disturbance in the force as if a thousand voices cried out and then where suddenly silence 🤣🤣

·

It looks great actually. More power to you!👌

·

I'm more horrified by the leather! Lol

·

I am indifferent to the issue but wonder how a company that produces such excellent fold over clasps with strap options cannot see the light, redesign or offer merely as an option that dated 9 link bracelet often fitted to SMP models.

·

No issue with an Omega strap on a Sub* And as long as you’re drinking coffee with it instead of diving, leather strap also fine :)

* Thinking about it, this is also about brand preference. I am pretty neutrally disposed towards both Rolex and Omega, so a strap swap doesn’t bother me. I wouldn’t however put a GO strap on a JLC, or vice versa 🤔

I think the Oysterflex straps or Rubber Bee straps would be better since they’re meant specifically for Rolexes. However, the vintage 5 digit subs, I’d say keep em on the bracelet. Granted, it’s your watch so I can’t tell you how to live your life lol.

·

You wear whatever strap/bracelet is comfortable and looks good…period

P.s. ……no one looks at the strap except watch fiends

·

I'm going through a rubber faze ATM. 😉

·

I put Victorinox strap on a Casio, so you know my answer. I think a strap plays more in terms of comfort than the watch itself, so put whatever you are comfortable with.

·

When I had my, Sub 14060M, I ran it 90% of time on a Nato or Rubber strap. I liked the fact that it dressed it down. Now crossing brands, I've not done it, but hey whatever you enjoy!

·

You do you, my guy! People tend to be weird about cross pollinating brands and I never understood it. Also happens with clothing - some folks go crazy if you dare to put Jordans on with a Adidas hoodie. Unless you’re being paid for by the brand, do what makes your heart sing!

·

If you like it, do it, wear it. I put a $650 Louis Vuitton strap on a $150 Festina. I like it. That's all that matters. I think your Sub looks spot on. I would rock it.

·

The necessity of using a the same brand strap/band/bracelet as the watch is a marketing tactic to keep you in the ecosystem.

·

It looks great and the coffee looks great too!

·

My god man, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?

Oooh I don’t like it mixing brands that way. IDGuy does the same mind you, so you are in good company!
