FWIW, I 100% agree that we should all wear what we enjoy and what that we do make these purchases with our own money and so what we decide should not be dictated by anyone or anything other than our preference.
I also think that we should definitely employ common sense when choosing what we wear if there is concern for safety or something in that vein.
Here's my final thought on the question I posed after reading through the conversation here - I will pretty much always wear what I want to wear, but I will also be mindful of the environment that I'll be in. I just have to ask myself what's my intention in choosing what I wear - am I trying to impress someone or am I doing it because the piece makes me happy? Hopefully it'll always be the latter. And also, I like to employ the shopping kart metaphor, for those who don't know - it's essentially states that there's no law against not returning your kart to the kart return spot, but it's a universal sign of being a dick if you don't. How that applies here is that, there's no law saying that I shouldn't wear my future rolex, or any luxury brand when I go an volunteer at a soup kitchen or a homeless shelter, but I'd think I'd be a pretty big arsehole if I did that.
I think @Watch.gringa got me excited for the potential of a red dial sub and my disappointment comes from that not being a real thing.
I did get excited about the BB58 GMT - mainly because I love the BB58 but never intended to get one because I love date windows and the BB doesn’t have one. Also, I’m sucker for red (okay burgundy but whatever) and black.
Everything else was far above my tax bracket to be even bothered with.
Well, maybe it an assumption I’m making but watches in general are very normal part of the average wardrobe, right? Especially nowadays with the prevalence of smartwatches. I mean, I don’t think watches are any more or any less normal than purses. But, if I see someone rocking a designer purse (LV, Gucci, etc.) in certain places, I might raise my eyebrows a bit.
It’s also entirely possible that I’m just overthinking this. 🤷🏾♂️ but it was a fun thought exercise!
