What Price Range Do Most Of Your Watch Purchases Fall Into?

This is something I'm just generally curious about, not after flexes - you could call it market research 😂

You can vote using the category number listed below. No additional comment is required, but all are appreciated.

1: 0-£100

2: £100-£350

3: £350 - £1000

4: £1000+

To kick things off, mine is probably #2

·

It has been a gradually slowing progression from 1 to 2, now mostly 3 or 4 as my preferences are better defined.

·

Great question! Never really thought about it before, but I find that mine usually fall under #3 when purchasing my vintage pieces and #2 when purchasing new or pre-owned quartz "beaters". #4 when considering purchases for special milestones. My prices in USD though...

·

i want to spent more, but currently im still at number 2

·

I'm at about #3, but also occasionally buy something less expensive.

·

3

Given that most of my watch purchases are vintage, it's mostly about how good a deal can I get. I stick to category 2, mostly. Only once have I gone with category 4, that was the Longines Spirit.

·

Mainly 1 at the moment (vintage is fun), but I have a lot of 3-4.

·

Most at 4, but the occasional 3.

·

If I were to run a straight average (total value of collection divided by number of watches), it would fall into category #3. However, if you look at the median, not the mean, it's squarely in category #2 as I have 11 watches, most of which are $100-$350. But my two luxury watches skew the mean much higher.

I have four Seikos, none of which are higher than $350. One micro brand (EOne, $150), Two G-Shocks (~$120 each), a vintage Hamilton (~$650, mainly due to the gold case), and a Timex Weekender (~$30). But then you throw in my Omega Aqua Terra (~$4,500) and my Oris Big Crown Pointer Date ($1,500) and the average goes way up.

·

Mine is probably 2 but occasionally 3 depends on the Watch i want

·

Mine is number 1. And you said this is market research, has Mr Ponzi contacted you again to do a collaboration on the all new limited edition Spaghetti Scametti?

·

For me usually <$100-<$400. Love the pic btw 😂

·

I've been 2 and 3 lately.  I'm certainly open to 1 and 4, just haven't been seeing anything I wanted in those ranges.

·

In the past 25 years I have gone from 3 to 2 and currently enjoying the hobby more than ever at about 1 and a half.

·

Mine go from high #1 to low #3. I can’t see myself going any higher than that as you can get great watches within that price range.

·

4

·

Probably 3

·

Mostly 2, followed by 1, and some at 3.

·

i have something for each of the categories listed although most of mine will be in the 3-4+ categories

·

Usually 1, but moving to 4 for my final purchase, Christopher Ward

·

#4 cuz I’m a baller!!😎

·

2 or 1 if it's a bargain

·

I'll go with a two, with a back up of a one for all my Casios.

·

Both 2 and 3 price brackets

·

Mostly category 2, but I’d like to try a category 3 at some point 😉

·

Most of my watch purchases have been around the USD$400-$600 range & gradually going up as I slowly notice the quantity difference between lower cost and more expensive watches. You DO get what you paid for…

·

4, but that's only because I love cheap-and-cheerful stuff along with 1 or 2 near-luxury items.

·

Option 3. A watch costing over $1000 leans more toward a piece of jewelry than a timekeeping device. I try to stay south of $500.

·

1. For me as I'm just starting my collection.
