Dornblüth & Sonne

Hi all.

Latest addition to my collection is a Dornblüth & Sonne 99.1 that arrived a few days ago. I wanted one of their watches as they are truly hand made with old machines and the dials are also made in house either ceramic or enamel. I wanted this to be my dress watch so I had a custom dial made with the green color I liked. The seconds and minute track I wanted in black as I felt that with would allow you to focus on the dial and hands. Very happy with the outcome and the staff at Dornblüth were great to deal with as we went through a few iterations of dial design before I picked this one.   The watch exceeded my expectations and it’s also become a daily ware for me. I would be interested in your thoughts on my design choices and the watch itself.

This is a cool one! Plus a green dial from a D&S is not that common… great watch!

·

Beautiful shade of green.

·

I Have on multiple times looked at their site and configured a watch, but never pulled the trigger. I love their look! Congratulations!

·

Very jealous. Amazing watch.

·

Very beautiful and it has a clear identity ❤️

How's the lume?

That is a fabulous looking watch. Congratulations!

·

Ughk, stellar. Love so many things about this. Particularly the dial! What is the process called? I love the outcome, almost like a vinyl record or tree rings.

·

Beautiful! I’ve been considering one of them for a while. The watch looks great. Enjoy it!

·

Splendid 🥰👏👏

·

beautiful!

·

How much dough for something like that?

·

Fantastic piece, I'm a bit jealous (but it's "Sohn", not "Sonne" 😉).

·

Absolutely stunning and a wonderful operation they've got going on.

·

I love getting to see so many more watch brands through the WatchCrunch community. This is gorgeous. I’m going to have to look into them more.

·

Wow!

No lime but as it’s more of a dress watch it works

Sorry, it's the oldest watch forum joke that I know of, always on watches with no obvious lume.

Hi - dial is a semi transparent ceramic, the reason I went with this set up is that it exactly matches the color I wanted, they do an enamel or solid ceramic but the color match is a little off. The minute and second tracks are engraved in the dial using a special machine then filled with the color requested- so it’s quite a process but the finished product looks awesome. Thanks for the comments etc

Gorgeous piece, bud. So fitting as well for #greenfridays #verdeviernes #greendialday 🍻

As Konsalik already pointed out, it's "& Sohn", not "& Sonne". Both are german words, Sohn=son, Sonne=sun.

There is a Chinese homage brand that tries to sound German, calling itself "Specht & Sohne". That is a case of close-but-no-cigar, because that should be "Specht & Söhne" - Söhne being the plural of Sohn. Mr Dornblüth has apparently only one (watchmaking) son. BTW regarding "Specht" - that means woodpecker, but it also is a real German surname.

·

Very nice choice. I hafe a 99.1 by myself and i'm also very happy with this watch. 💯

·

Fantastic colour, maybe not for me but it's vibrant and polished applied indices was definitely the way to go.

I've got my eye on a Quintus 2010 38.5mm but the lug-to-lug is a little off putting. How have you found yours @Watchtime

Thanks for the comments - the watch wears very comfortably on my wrist which is 18.5 cm

I think that is a tad lighter, or yellower, than the average bold green dial, which is probably a benefit for legibility.
